Is there a way to check on weather conditions at your destination?

Featured Replies

I hate needing to wait until Im 50nm from my destination before I can get the ATIS to have an idea what the active runway is. I also hate that I cant monitor both ATC and ATIS once im in range.I want to know if there is some way to check the weather at your destination, maybe even get a TAF?Also, is there anyway to monitor both radio frequencies...maybe I just dont know what Im doing.

If you are using real world weather, you can always switch out of the app for a few minutes, open up IE, then go to either http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/metar.shtml or http://www.airnav.comThe other way is to purchase ActiveSky. You can get the destination weather through that program when you do the Flight Planner or use the CUSTOM METAR section. As far as monitoring both ATC and ATIS, it's simple:1)Open up your radio stack.2) Tune the ATIS frequency on COM2 (Don't forget to tune it in the STANDBY section the flip it to the Active section).3) On the bottom of the stack is a row of buttons. Click on BOTH (3rd from the left). You'll get both COM1 and COM2 transmissions.

Really? I can monitor both radios? I could have sworn I had tried that before. Well its good to know that it can happen, it will keep me trying until I get it to work.I use real world weather, but "alt+tab" mid-flight is not something I like. I guess I'll have to check destination weather on the other computer...rats!

I haven't tried it lately but there was an app. for the kneeboard that allowed surfing such sites as the weather site mentioned above.Don't remember it's name....got to get some sleep:-)

Well, if you

fsmeteo would be another option for such a window on your panels.
