PJ,

Many thanks value your input anytime yes I will try again..and yes manage the expectations I suppose we all think the PC we have is beefy enough

for the job...but alas as you have pointed out maybe not so.

For me it was a case of well I have a strong oc CPU and a good graphics card so here we go!

Not sure how p3 will stand up hence the reason for Dx10 and all the add ons.

Will take your advice and re apply and see where it takes me.

Many thanks

Hang in there Mark!

My suggestion would be to make up two cfg's - one for tubes, and one for VFR, configuring each with the differences - for e.g. 1). VFR: - no AI aircraft - only GA, so your airfields are populated, but the big airports - SFO, LAX, SEA, etc - don't have any traffic. You're not flying there, anyway, right!

2). If you're going to set up some heavy weather - cut down on road and boat traffic; roll the detail back a bit - that sort of thing. Customise it.

These are killers, so pick and choose the poison!

As far as gpu's go - the x80-series are the strong cards.

All the Best, my friend,

pj

I have a Sandy Bridge - E Core I-7 3820 proc and a GTX670 and I get good FPS in clouds.. Make sure the Cloud Cull is checked in the fixer.

I have a video where I am going thru a bunch of clouds on my way to Miami with what I assume is halfway decent fps - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm6gihYGo7Q

I forgot to mention that I updated my BIOS that has Ivy Bridge-E and GTX 780 capability even my proc is a sandy Bridge-E and my Video is GTX 670. The BIOS update seems to make the GTX 670 a bit faster... Also I run the .bat file that allows my to run FSX from the Aero theme in Windows 7 - seems to also increase performance (even though I run FSX full screen)
