FSX Throttle problem & Crash to Desktop

Recommended Posts

Hi,

my FSX has just crashed to the desktop whilst I had just landed at Manchester Airport taxing to a final full stop.I was recording an hours worth of a full flight using Fs Recorder. My question is there any chance of retrieving or getting back my recorded flight,or there in no default folder for saving recorded flight. Please help .I'm also having a problem with throttle for all the planes in FSX.When I launch FSX,click fly now the moment it finishes loading up,the PMDG 737 NGX's there is a continuous beeping sound. My throttle levers or quadrant for which ever aircraft are always engaged to full thrust and planes will start spooling straight away.I have to move my joystick throttle lever up and down to disengage and apply brakes to come to a full stop. When I click fly now at the beginning of the FSX load up page if I listen very carefully I can hear some mouse clicks like switches in the cockpit toggling. I really don't know what causing all these issues and I hope I'll be able to get help.

After getting advice from Jim Young Director of Forums,he asked me to post my CTD report and System Specs of which I have attached below.

The faulting module belongs to Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.  You have the proper version installed.  Here's a possible fix - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/420458-msvcr80dll-how-to-fix/.  Hopefully when you installed Acceleration you right clicked the installer and selected "Run as Administrator".  You should also disable any anti-virus program until the installation is complete. The exception code indicates too that you could have an issue with one of your USB ports.  Did you just plug in a device to a USB port?  But try the first fix first.  You should also make sure you have updated drivers for your USB ports.  I use a freeware program called Driver Scanner.  It's freeware until it finds things then it will offer to fix it for a small yearly registration or you can look at what hardware has outdated drivers and go on the Internet and search for the driver, download it, and install it yourself.

Try Frapps for recording.......much better FS recorder.......

How are you contoling your thottles..with FS or with an add on program like FSUIPC.....?

I was using both Fraps and Fs recorder. I would record my flight from start to finish with Fs recorder first then use Fraps to capture replay at different views. I've had issues with FSUIPC so I stopped using it, if you know of any good one you can recommend would appreciate. Anyway I've decided to do a fresh FSX install today hopefully things are going to improve. Thanks

Hello Jim,thanks for the response well I went through steps of what you suggested starting with Driver update. Some of my drivers for sure they were outdated of which I think could have been playing a part to these CTD's issues. On the forum on how to fix the .dll I did not proceed,I wasn't quite sure if I ran as an Administrator when I installed  Acceleration pack. Today i just decided to do a fresh FSX install thought this could help resolve these problems.

Best regards,

I think just uninstalling Acceleration, running FSX once, then reinstalling Acceleration would be the easiest.  In the Add/Remove Programs it shows FSX/Acceleration but, when you uninstall that, you will still have FSX installed.  It does not uninstall everything.  I would try that before going through a complete uninstall.

                                       Brian..

Hi, apparently I had already done fresh install by the time Jim replied to my message. i just thought as well it might have been a good

idea to start from scratch again.Anyway FSX is fired up and running I haven't put much addons as yet.I have only managed to put

back my payware stuff PMDG 737NGX 800/900,GSX and just one Aerosoft Mega Heathrow airport and work myself up as we go along step by step.

I still seem to be having the same throttle problem again like before. My throttle levers or quadrant for which ever aircraft are always engaged to full thrust and planes will start spooling straight away.

I haven't bought FSUIPC as yet. With your guidance from Jim and Brian you're more than welcome to assist me on what to do. I didn't

know about LINDA but maybe with your help you can point me in the right direction.

Regards

Lloyd

It seems to me that you have a conflict some where.....with your throttle`s.......Go into settings in FSX and tab to throttle`s get rid of all references to them...and see what happens..if it dosent work you can always go back to the defaults.............let me know what happens..dont panic,.... I`m on it......

Hi Brian,I have removed all the keyboard assignments with throttle reference in FSX ,settings controls still no change. I have unplugged my USB joystick, reboot My PC and tried to run FSX without it still same problem. So i don't know where the problem lies.....Before FSX uninstall and recently I used to get controls.dll CTD,I'm not sure if that's to do with controls in FSX causing this problem......maybe that might help..

Hi LLoyd,

Get FSX running with an aircraft on the runway..............get the menues up by pressing ALT,...... left click Options/settings/controls/control Axes.......and you will see in the box when you click the arrow all your hardware..............Mine is CH Eclipse Yoke/CH Pro Pedals USB/CH Trottle Quadrant..........left click on all of these in turn to remove any assignment that refers to throttle Axes........Because I use FSUIPC,.... I have Deleted all Assignments, you dont need them.. You assign them all with FSUIPC......and this is the killer if you don`t you will get the problems you are  having......throttles going to full power........I think this is your main problem.........Try this see if it works......if it dosen`t I would completley Remove FSX and all programs that you use with it and start again.........A clean install with FSX only run it and do the above......... see if it works.. if it does then and only then add one programe at a time...........I had this problem as well and the above fixed it....you will need FSUIPC the full version, payware i`m afraid..but it does work...........

                                                                                                             Brian.

HI Lloyd,

have done a little research on controls.dll CTD.....not good............. If all else fails you might have to re-install windows...other simmers have the same problem after installing other software.....But have a look your self before you re-install.........good luck......I`ll still try to find out what`s causing this problem......

Hi Brian

Thanks for the response,I have just bought FSUIPC from simMarket for about £24 well quite reasonable....So before i go ahead and install I'm gonna try and do what you suggested from the previous post...Will update you shortly with the progress.

One thing I did the day before yesterday was, right click FSX,properties ,compatibility then run it in Windows 7 mode.... I haven't had any desktop crashes till today which is a good sign....My only battle left is with this Throttle issue, hopefully with your help I'm sure it's gonna work....Thanks for your support really appreciate.!!!!

Hi Brian it's me again, surprise surprise  what a surprise, your trick finally resolved the problem.I should have done it first before buying FSUIPC but anyway not to worry I'm gonna need it anyway......What was happening is my Cyborg Fly 5 joystick was conflicting with 2 Vjoy virtual joysticks which I presume to be keyboard and mouse....They both had Throttle Axes configured to them that was the root of the problem....As soon I deleted them booted FSX, tried different planes everything is back to normal working perfect, thanks to you you're a life saver.

My only issue now is to deal with FSUIPC which I'm sure you'll be able to assist me through it....I have heard a lot of people complaining regards setup and config but I'm sure with you it will be sorted.....I really appreciate for your effort and support you are a Major Credit to AVSIM,thumbs up for you.

I'm gonna start with the installation of FSUIPC and will keep you posted with the progress.

Thank you

Best regards

Lloyd

Hi Lloyd,

 Hi Lloyd,

These instructions are for your Flaps/Gear- up/Gear-Down.....You have to repeat this for each assignment..Don`t forget to press OK each time..

Get the FSUIPC interface running and look for Button & Switches....then left click on it, then

press the button you wish to program and the number of that button will appear in the right hand

side of Joy# and Btn#...thenclick in the box Select for FS control.. a tick will appear..Now,go

down one and click on the black arrow under Contol sent when button pressed...A list will

appear..select off that list what you require and left click on it...That`s it easy.............If

you want  your selection to repeat, left click in the Box Control to repeat while held.........go

to the bottom and click OK...Job Done.......

                                           Hope that helps     Brian.

PS if you have problems ..and you will.......get back to me.......

If you want to use LINDA for the above assignments let me know and I will show you how........

Hi Lloyd,

The throttles/Spoilers/Reversers x two are a little more complex to set up as is the rudders and Brakes left and right...............but see how you get on and let me know..........Good luck.

                                                                                                      Brian.
