January 19, 201412 yr Hi guys, Just a quick question about the POSKY CRJ-700 FDE. Many years ago, when Project Opensky still had their website and forum up and running and you could get support from them, they published a tweak to the FDE of the -700 to stop it form porpoising above 200 ktas. It also porpoises when performing any kind of turn using autopilot. The autopilot tries, but is never able to catch up to the airplane, jamming the trim up and down until I disengage it and fly by hand. This is quite annoying as it is next to impossible to maintain any kind of control when on approach. In any event, I had to do a clean install of FS9 recently (best thing I have ever done, by the way), and in the process, lost my tweaked -700 FDE file. I re-downloaded the -700 here at AVSIM, but the aircraft is back to its porpoising ways. I have been searching ever since for the fix, but I just can't seem to find it. Does anybody remember what it was, or know how to fix it? I searched the AVSIM forums, and saw the posts about its F-15-like capabilities and short takeoff characteristics, but nothing about the porpoising. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks very much, Houndog528
January 24, 201412 yr Hi. I have a some what odd suggestion for you on this one, but thought it worth suggesting as I saw no one had replied. I am not sure what form the tweak came in that your looking for, but have you tried using "internet archive wayback machine" (http://archive.org/web/)? This creates snapshots of websites over time. They are not complete copies of websites, so things like downloads might be missing. But it contains a fair bit of info which has been great use to myself over the years for research. I was thinking if you could pin down some specific time frame, dates, and other details, you might be able to find it here and at least get a file name or maybe even the tweak itself. I already checked for the old posky pages, and they exist on this archive. And I also checked out "May 2008" which seems to be the date of some of the FDE files that exist on the CRJ-700 posky archive zips, and that time frame also exists, along with many months and years around it. I know it might sound like a crazy idea, but with a little research, it might bring you some leads - if anything. Just go to the archive website link provided above, type in "www.projectopensky.com" is the website, and then select a date time frame. There is a graphical bar at the top that shows the amount of times a snapshot of the website was taken. Once again its just a snapshot and does not contain everything, but it might help. Hope that helps. Regards. PC: i7-6700k (4.6), GTX980Ti (SC+), Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, 16GB Ram, SB ZXR, Win10 64-bit
January 24, 201412 yr Author Thanks sr71_sr71, I spent a little while on the website you suggested, and you're right it doesn't have everything. However, I did find the post I was looking for. Problem is, that particular post wasn't archived, so I couldn't get to it. I found this issue on another website forum, but the original poster didn't get the problem fixed either. I did download the FDE Suite on the POSKY website, but that didn't solve the problem either. I can't believe nobody else had this problem/issue. When this aircraft first came out, there were numerous posts on the POSKY forums, and I am certain that there was a fix for it. After applying the fix, the aircraft became a joy to fly. I just wish I could remember what it was. It was either in the FDE or the Aircraft.cfg that something was tweaked. Coincidentally, the SkySpirit2012 CRJ-1000 aircraft also had this porpoising problem, but the issued a fix for it which is available for download here on AVSIM. I went to their website (which is a Facebook page), to see if there were any posts for the CRJ700, but the account appears to be closed, as the only thing I saw was a list of members of the group. Oh well, another dead end. I am certain this fix exists on the web somewhere, or in somebody's head or computer. I just have to find it. Thanks for the suggestion. If anybody else has any other suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Houndog528

January 25, 201412 yr If anybody else has any other suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated. I checked my 'hangared' CRJ700 and found that in the [TurbineEngineData] - static_thrust section, I had commented out the original number provided and reduced it by about 3400 lbs. I had also reduced the inlet_area number by 5. I also had made some changes in the [weight_and_balance] station load section. If you wish you may PM me and I'll share the relevant sections with you for you to try. Please keep in mind that I haven't flown this aircraft in years so I don't recall how it performed. It is not in the hangar because it wouldn't fly right, I keep all my flyable aircraft outside FS9 except a few that I'm interested in at any given time. Regards, Mel
