  1. I have the A319-111 in Easyjet and Allegiant livery with no sharklets, and American with sharklets. I also have A319-132 in United colors, no sharklets. These are all version 2.2. I downloaded the A319 v2 package directly from Project Airbus, and then downloaded liveries from here on AVSIM.
  2. Thanks for the suggestions so far. I finally got around to giving them a go, and I was somewhat successful. I changed the "thrust_scalar" as suggested, and it did not completely fix the issue. I only slowed me down, to around 40 knots across the ground when taxiing. However, I noticed something strange. When I first release the parking brakes, I accelerate very quickly with no throttle inputs whatsoever (the scenario being taxiing out for departure, fully fueled and loaded). Now, if I were to apply heavy braking (i.e. if I am coming to a required turn but am going too fast to make it), come to a complete stop, release the brakes and let her go (again, with no throttle inputs), she starts to roll, but not as quickly as she first did (I still get up to 40 knots, just not as fast). I checked all my other PA Airbuses, and they are all at "thrust_scalar=1.00", yet they don't have this problem. So, I am wondering if this is a weight and balance issue in the 319? I did test this theory out in FS9 (not the FDE), and the results were as stated above, although I tried it in the A320 which does not have this problem. So, is it a weight and balance in the FDE thing? Or do I need to adjust the "thrust_scalar" even lower? Or is it something else entirely? An installation error, perhaps? Thanks again for the help, Houndog
  3. Hello all, A question about the PA Airbus A319 Version 2. Is there any way to get the airplane to stop moving on the ground when the engines are at idle? I mean, other than constantly braking or using the parking brake? The A319, when fully prepped for a flight, accelerates rapidly with no engine input when taxiing (at idle). I tested this out to see how fast I could actually get without so much as touching the throttle, and I got up to 60 knots across the ground at idle. Is there a way to fix this without altering the flying ability of the airplane? It is a pure joy to fly, as are all the other Version 2 PA Airbuses. This the only one I have a problem with when taxiing, though. I looked up the forums on the Project Airbus site, and saw that other users had posted this same question, looking for advice on how to fix it. PA's advice was basically, "Fully load the airplane, and see what happens. Otherwise, this is how it handles in real life, so get used to it." I tried the fully loaded advice (fuel, pax, cargo), and it reduced the speed somewhat, but still was pretty uncontrollable on the ground. Not to mention the fabulous handling in the air. It felt like I was dragging an entire fleet of airplanes behind me. Just impossible to fly, and not realistic at all. Clearly not the answer. And, as far as "This is how the airplane handles in real life, get used to it", I cannot believe this to be true. I have flown on many an A319, and we certainly weren't taxiing at 60 knots, and the pilots certainly weren't toeing the brakes constantly to maintain control. So, what gives? I have used the PA A318, A320, A321 (once I learned how to step-climb; essential in this airplane, by the way), and A380, and none of them have this problem. So, how do I fix this, if at all? Or should I just "get used to it"? Thanks, Houndog
  4. Thanks sr71_sr71, I spent a little while on the website you suggested, and you're right it doesn't have everything. However, I did find the post I was looking for. Problem is, that particular post wasn't archived, so I couldn't get to it. I found this issue on another website forum, but the original poster didn't get the problem fixed either. I did download the FDE Suite on the POSKY website, but that didn't solve the problem either. I can't believe nobody else had this problem/issue. When this aircraft first came out, there were numerous posts on the POSKY forums, and I am certain that there was a fix for it. After applying the fix, the aircraft became a joy to fly. I just wish I could remember what it was. It was either in the FDE or the Aircraft.cfg that something was tweaked. Coincidentally, the SkySpirit2012 CRJ-1000 aircraft also had this porpoising problem, but the issued a fix for it which is available for download here on AVSIM. I went to their website (which is a Facebook page), to see if there were any posts for the CRJ700, but the account appears to be closed, as the only thing I saw was a list of members of the group. Oh well, another dead end. I am certain this fix exists on the web somewhere, or in somebody's head or computer. I just have to find it. Thanks for the suggestion. If anybody else has any other suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Houndog528
  5. Hi guys, Just a quick question about the POSKY CRJ-700 FDE. Many years ago, when Project Opensky still had their website and forum up and running and you could get support from them, they published a tweak to the FDE of the -700 to stop it form porpoising above 200 ktas. It also porpoises when performing any kind of turn using autopilot. The autopilot tries, but is never able to catch up to the airplane, jamming the trim up and down until I disengage it and fly by hand. This is quite annoying as it is next to impossible to maintain any kind of control when on approach. In any event, I had to do a clean install of FS9 recently (best thing I have ever done, by the way), and in the process, lost my tweaked -700 FDE file. I re-downloaded the -700 here at AVSIM, but the aircraft is back to its porpoising ways. I have been searching ever since for the fix, but I just can't seem to find it. Does anybody remember what it was, or know how to fix it? I searched the AVSIM forums, and saw the posts about its F-15-like capabilities and short takeoff characteristics, but nothing about the porpoising. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks very much, Houndog528
  6. Hi guys, Well, I fooled around with RealWx last night after work, and changed my settings to those listed above, and that seems to have done the trick. I don't know exactly which settings I had wrong, but clearly that was the problem, as it works just fine now. I tried it out at several different airports that had differing weather reports, just to see what would happen and that it wasn't just a fluke, and it worked like a charm! Thanks very much for all your help. I would never have figured it out otherwise. Happy flying!! Houndog528
  7. Thanks Luis, I tried your suggestion, this time using KSHV (due to thunderstorms and strong winds), but it didn't work. Is there something I need to do in FS9 to get the weather to load? I feel like I'm missing something somewhere. Is there something within FSUIPC I need to click on to accept incoming data from an outside program? Is this program like a scenery, where you have to tell FS9 that it's there in the scenery folder and it should be loaded? Or does FS9 automatically know it should accept the weather information and load it accordingly? Maybe I don't have the correct version of RealWX. I have version 1.07.1522. Is that the correct version? There were two listed on the download page of the RealWX webpage, and I wasn't sure which one I should choose. I went with the higher of the two version numbers, which is version 1.07.1522. Just thinking out loud.. Thanks again, Houndog528
  8. Hi all, Just downloaded this program, as recommended by other posters on this forum, and cannot get it to work. I can download weather with it, I can read the METAR, and I can send the weather off to FS9. But, that's as far as I get. How do I get FS9 to receive the weather and display it? I have been using KOKC as my trial airport, because of the noticeably bad weather at the airport. I figure it would be easy to tell whether or not it loaded correctly. Anyway, I type in KOKC into the METAR box, but it tells me that it cannot be found. Why not? I type KOKC again into the METAR box, but this time click on Start up above. RealWX downloads a bunch of stuff and then shows "waiting for FS9" next to the METAR box. So, I load FS9. RealWX downloads a bunch more stuff, and then shows "success" next to the METAR box. Now, what do I do? If I load a flight at KOKC, no weather whatsoever shows, except for clear skies and calm winds, which I know is not accurate because of the METAR in RealWX. So, what is wrong here? Why is FS9 not receiving and showing the downloaded weather? I have FSUIPC version 3.999z4, and am running Windows XP. I have also tried the following tips I found on this forum: "Check this: Options General: Meta Feed VATSIM ticked? Options General: Startup Download WX ticked? Options DWC and Interface: Interface FSUIPC shown? If all set (and WX restarted) you only need to fire up FS9. WX will know via FSUIPC when FS9 comes up (and where your plane is located) and tranfer according weatherdata to FS9 automatically without any action from the user." I am not even sure I am using this program correctly. There was no manual included in the download or on the website, so I am not sure what the correct sequence of events are. Should RealWX be open before FS9? Should FS9 be open and at my departure airport before I start RealWX? What settings does FS9 need to have in order to receive and load information from RealWX? Thanks for any help you can give me, Houndog528
  9. Hi guys,Just a quick question about the Categories List on the AVSIM Library Quick Search page. When I click on the drop-down arrow to show the list of categories to search in, nothing happens. The only place I can search downloads for is the entire AVSIM File Library, which is what is in the Categories list box. The rest of the AVSIM File Library and website works great. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I have noticed this problem since last month, but have not seen any posts in the forums about it, so maybe it's just me? I have Windows XP, and Internet Explorer (no idea what version, but definitely not the newest one), and have deleted my Cookies and Temporary Internet Files and Browser History, but no luck. Still doesn't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks very much,Houndog528Just noticed that none of the drop-down arrows in the AVSIM File Library seem to be working for me. Any ideas?Houndog528
  10. Hello all,I have a new problem with FS9 now, a CTD on Startup. Here is a link to my previous problem, which was never resolved:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/322995-atc-problem-again/page__p__1910908__fromsearch__1#entry1910908Since nobody had any other ideas on how to fix that problem, I decided to try an uninstall/re-install of FS9, thinking that it would install whatever I was missing and all would be well. Big mistake!! I ran the un-install, which was successful. Then, I ran the install, which was also completed successfully. Now, I can't get into FS9. Not knowing what to do, I came here and found the following: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/323943-fs9-crashes-during-startup/. One of the posts here advised that I visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837195 and follow all the steps. I did that, and none of them worked. I had the most problems with the first one, regarding the 9.1 Update. I am not sure that I un-installed it well enough, and when I went to re-install (with a fresh copy downloaded from the Internet) I get the following message: "Update Type Error 34" with a box marked "OK" to click on. After clicking on the "OK" box, it tells me that the "9.1Update could not be successfully installed." And, then it closes. When I try to un-install the Update again, it tells me that it cannot find a file called "unpatch.bat" which is supposed to be located in the BACKUP folder in the main FS9 Folder. Locating that folder, I looked inside and there is no file called "unpatch.bat". I have tried removing the BACKUP folder as suggested in another post, but that did not work. So, how do I remedy the 9.1Update problem? And, how do I get into FS9?Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks very much,Houndog528
  11. Thanks Ron,This was mostly a website for Radar Contact, so I wasn't able to use much. However, it did have a link to a Registry Fix tool, which I downloaded and ran. It didn't fix the problem, but was worth a try.Anybody else have any other ideas? Thanks very much,Adam
  12. Hello again,Well, I tried getting rid of my FS9.cfg and having FS9 build a new one on start-up, but it didn't solve the problem, so I replaced it with my old FS9.cfg. John,I am interested in trying this, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean. How do I go about doing this? Thanks,Adam
  13. Andy,I am sorry if I came across as rude or ungrateful. That is not the way I intended to be, and I apologize for it. I am very grateful for everybody's help thus far, and will continue to try any suggestions that anybody may have. It's funny you mention this, Andy, because this did happen to me the other day. I went into FS9 to do a quick flight, and none of my assignments were the way they should be. A quick reset, and all was right again. I haven't had this problem since then or, for that matter, ever.I am going to try to find my FS9.cfg file and create a new one and see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Colin,This is a great reference file to have. I just wish I knew what I was looking for. Colin, I just took a look at my Scenery.cfg file, and all appears well. The areas are numbered in order 1-41, and everything seems to be there from what I can tell. Took a test flight in FS9, and still no Center to talk to. Thanks again guys for all your help. It is much appreciated,Adam
  14. Andy,I tried your suggestion, and it didn't work. There is still no Center to talk to. Again, the only thing in my ATC communication window is "1. Nearest Airport List." That's it. Nothing else!! Why? Because I deleted something I shouldn't have, and I don't know how to get it back. Also, I think you might have misunderstood the problem that I am having. Editvoicepack works fine, it's FS9 that has the problem.Again, Clearance Delivery, Ground, ATIS, Tower, Departure and Approach all work the way they are supposed to, as do all the different voices. The problem is if Departure cancels my IFR flightplan, I can't refile because there is no-one to re-file with. Previously, I would just contact Center and re-file. But, now, because Center doesn't exist, I can't do that. How do I get Center back? Thanks,Adam
  15. Bob,I don't know the name of the program I used, but it was a freeware type thing where you could optimize your PC. I did things like delete cookies, delete temporary internet files, clear my browser, optimize and clean out my windows registry, optimize the number of programs that windows starts when it first starts up, de-frag the hard drive, clear up memory, and delete doubles of files. That is where I think I ran into trouble, deleting doubles of files. The program compiled a list of all the double files that I had, and I made the mistake of deleting them without going through them. I glanced at the list quickly, and there were a few FS9 files present. I didn't make the connection, and deleted the entire list. Ever since then I have been having the ATC problem with FS9. That is really the only big problem with FS, other than a few missing textures here and there and a few panel problems, but those are easily fixable. It's the ATC I don't know how to fix.I searched for your Registry Repair Tool in the AVSIM database, but came up empty-handed. Could you recommend one that I could try? Thanks very much,Adam
  16. Thanks Guys,I have done this many times since the problem started and it doesn't work. I have no Center to contact to re-file a flightplan with, that's the problem. Even if I go through the menu, I never get an option in my ATC window to "File an IFR Flightplan", because I don't have Center to talk to. I can re-file with Approach when I get close to my arrival airport, but this doesn't always work, so I can't count on it. FS used to let me re-file a flightplan in mid-air, but that was before the problem started. Follow my link and you'll see what my original problem was. To make a long story short, I was not getting a hand-off to anybody after talking to Departure. Now, Departure will eventually hand me off to Approach if I don't miss any instructions and have my flightplan cancelled. I never get handed off to Center anymore because I don't have Center, and that's where the problem is. I can't dial in Departure because I am already too far away, and I can't use Approach because I am not close enough. There is nobody between the two to dial in, that's my problem.Bob, I am going to download the Registry Repair Tool and I will let you know what happens. Thanks again,Adam
  17. Hello again everyone,This is a kind of follow-up to the problem I was having a few weeks ago with my ATC, which was posted in this forum. I mostly resolved that problem by downloading and installing the EditVoicePack program. But, now I have a new problem that is driving me up the wall. It is a radio/ATC problem whereby I never get passed onto Center when on an IFR flight. Communications on the ground are fine, as is Departure control. Approach control also works, when and/if I get handed off. The problem occurs when Departure control issues an instruction hours into a long flight that requires a reply, and I miss said instruction and reply. My IFR flightplan gets cancelled, and I am no longer in radio contact with anybody. I don't get an option to re-file an IFR flightplan. The only thing visible in the ATC communications window is "1. Nearest Airports List". I figured out that I can dial in approach control when I get close to my destination airport, but this does not always work. Sometimes I get nothing, sometimes I have to be right over the destination airport to get approach control, and sometimes I get it about 30 or so miles out. Now, if I don't miss the ATC instruction and reply, ATC (which is on the Departure control frequency of the airport that I departed, no matter the length of the flight) hands me right off to Approach so that I can begin my approach to land. Is there anyway to get Center back? Can I pull the required files from FS9 CD's? Is there a download of some kind that will remedy this problem? The only thing I can think of is to re-install FS9. But, I don't want to do this, because FS9 is running better than it's ever run, and there are no other problems with anything associated with FS9, and I don't want to screw that up. Anybody have any ideas?FYI, here is the link to the post I mentioned above regarding the last ATC problem I had that's been resolved:http://forum.avsim.n...oblem-with-atc/Thanks in advance,Adam
  18. Thanks Ted,I took a look in my Aircraft folder, and I did have that Airlines.cfg file you mentioned. I opened it up, and it was chock full of airlines (and, for some reason, neater than it's ever been). I downloaded and ran Editvoicepack, and it seems to have fixed the problem. I did a quick sample flight this afternoon, and encountered normal IFR radio operations and traffic. I am still a little short on traffic, so I thought I would fool around with the traffic percentage and see what happens. Thanks again very much. I knew AVSIM would get the job done!!Thanks again,AdamP.S. Everybody should have Editvoicepack. Love the updated communications. I don't know how I have been flying all these years without it!!
  19. Hello all,I have encountered a strange problem in FS2004 recently. It started when I did a de-frag of my hard disk, and cleaned out some clutter from it. I must have deleted something from FS2004 because I have a strange proglem going on. It has to do with ATC. On airport property, ATC is fine (clearance delivery, ground, tower for takeoff, departure), but then departure control never hands me off to anybody else, even though I have filed an IFR flightplan. When I get close to my arrival airport (100 miles or so) and am preparing for descent, I get no ATC communications whatsoever. Sometimes, all I get in my ATC command box is the option "Nearest Airport List." It doesn't matter how long my flight is. For example, I flew from JFK-SEA, and was in contact (although, nothing was said) with JFK Departure all the way to SEA. I have done this flight before, and have talked with Chicago and Minneapolis and Salt Lake City enroute. Also, the radios are eerily quiet. There is no radio chatter anymore, from anybody. There are aircraft on the ground and at gates and parking stands, but nobody ever seems to move. There have been occasions where one or two AI aircraft do taxi and depart, but the communication with them is strange too. Instead of calling "Delta 123, cleared for takeoff," ATC will say " 123, cleared for takeoff," with a space before 123 where Delta should be. I use Project AI aircraft, and I tried re-installing all of them, but it did not fix the problem. I have traffic set at 50%, because that's about all I can handle.Other than those two issues, everything else seems to be working correctly. No texture issues, no scenery issues. I do have a few aircraft texture and panel issues, but those are easy fixes, if and when I want to use those aircraft. So, any ideas on how to remedy this problem? Perhaps, a program that can fix the missing files or whatever is causing the problem? Thanks in advance,Adam
  20. Thanks Gus,That did the trick! FS9.1 updated successfully. I have to remember that trick for next time I mess everything up!! LOL!!Thanks again,Adam
  21. Hello all,I was having the OOM problem earlier, and resolved this by doing a re-install of FS9. FS9 loads no problem, but I am having issues with the FS9.1 update. I ran the uninstaller, and uninstalled it. Then, I ran the installer, and it tells me that "It looks like you already have version 9.1 installed." It then closes. I loaded a flight in FS9 and went to double-check what version I have, and lo and behold it is 9.00. So, I did uninstall it successfully. How do I re-install it successfully? I downloaded a fresh copy from Microsoft, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks very much,Adam
  22. Bill,I finally got around to opening my machine to see what kind of memory I've got. I wrote down all the numbers on the memory sticks that I've got. Here they are, in no particular order: I have two 512mb memory sticks, with two slots left over for two more memory sticks. MT8VDDT6464AG-335C1 (one of the sets of numbers). PC2700U025331-A1 (another set of numbers). A0069GB and right next to that, but with no hyphen, is 200419. Below that, it says 512mb, DDR, 333, CL2.5 (with the commas). Below that is the final set of numbers: 590-504958.Thank you very much for helping with the memory. I would be happy to take one of your hands, if you have one. I have looked at a couple of sites online, and there are some for under $30. I just have absolutely no idea which one to buy, so I am very appreciative of your help. Thanks again very much Bill for all your help so far, and for everybody else who has helped so far as well,Adam
  23. Stan,I deleted everything in my Scenery.cfg file, except the default scenery that came with the game. Still "Building Scenery Database". Still OOM.Adam
  24. Thanks Stan,I just tried this and it didn't work. I don't think FS9 is getting to the point where it is reading the FS9.cfg file. It gets hung-up on "Building New Scenery Database".Thanks again,Adam
  25. Bill,You say the only solution to throwing too much at FS9 is to increase the RAM. Why couldn't I just get FS9 down to a level where it can handle what I have? In other words, why couldn't I just get rid of aircraft, scenery, etc., until I get to a level that FS9 can handle? Doesn't this make more sense? I mean, for six years 1GB has been enough to make FS9 happy. Why couldn't I find that happy zone, and go back to it? Your solution just doesn't make sense. If I ran out of hard-drive space, I wouldn't go out and buy a new hard-drive. I would clean it out, get rid of programs I don't use, get rid of files I don't use or need, defrag it, and get back to an acceptable level. Why can't I do that here? Something doesn't make sense to me in this situation.I don't think I threw too much at FS9. I deleted 4 sceneries, and added 3 new sceneries. This upset FS9. Why? No idea. If it could handle, for example, 10 sceneries, why can't it handle 9 sceneries? Doesn't make sense. I had an OOM one time before, when I tried to add an aircraft to my collection. This would be a case of throwing too much at FS9. So, how did I remedy the situation? I deleted that aircraft that I installed. And, voila!! FS9 is happy once again. Why can't I do that now? Why can't I get FS9 down to a level where it will be happy? I do everything to make FS9 happy. I use Gamebooster to shut down stuff running in the background that I don't need to play the game. That should make the RAM usage less. No? I continually clean out my aircraft and scenery folder, and keep everything to a minimum. I don't employ high game settings, because I know my computer can't handle it. Maybe deleting 4 sceneries and adding 3 new sceneries at the same time was too much for FS9 all at once. So, why can't I go back to where I was before I started changing my scenery?I think everybody here is getting caught up on the OOM, instead of what's causing it. I think there is something else going on here besides the OOM. How do I get FS9 to quit "Building new scenery database" on start-up? That is the question. I am convinced that if I can get past that, FS9 will be happy again. I don't think buying new things right away is the solution. To me, bigger (or more) is not always better. It's how you use what you've got that makes it good. FS9 was happy using what I have for the past 6 years, which means that it can be happy once again using what I have. Question is, how do I get it there? Thanks,Adam
