January 25, 201412 yr I am new to VATSIM and just did my first flight today which was a success however, I am unable to hear ATC or communicate with ATC by voice. I had to use the chat window for the entire flight. I read the FAQ section on Apollo3 regarding sound with FSINN and didn't come up with any results. I also did some forum searching but didn't find anything that fixed my problem. I downloaded TeamSpeak and my microphone is working fine with a hot key. But when I am connected to Vatsim with FSINN I cannot hear any ATC communication and I can't even hear the "tone" when I press the hot key to speak. I have checked all volume settings and everything is turned up. I also excluded FSFDT in my anti virus. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I am using Logitech 313 speakers and a audio-technica headset. Also using Envy HD audio control panel. Please help! Thank you! Ben Weaver SWA8485
January 27, 201412 yr After you set 122.80 as unicom frequency in FSInn settings connect to VATSIM by having COM1 set to 122.80. When connected see if you get autoconnected to local unicom voice room. You see that by the top left green-cyan-green lights in the VVL bar (bring in view from the Advanced -> VVL key) Press also PTT to see if leftmost bar becomes purple (means you actually are transmitting voice at that point) If the green-cyan-green bars are active then you are connected with voice channel. I find that most times in order to connect to other ATC voice rooms I have to be connected beforehand to an active voice room i.e. from active to active (be it ATC or unicom). I do this by being on 122.80 before and then switching to the ATC's frequency. Sometimes I even need to do it twice <-> back and forth so that it connects. I think it all has to do with the speed of the voice server the ATC has selected. I believe default unicom server for FSInn is the liveatc.net one. Note: FSInn switches you from room to room there as you cross FIR borders (roughly) but since this only an FSInn feature it is not used as FIR voice unicom per se; only text on 122,80 counts as unicom communication on network. So if the above works then it should also work with ATC unless the ATCO has wrong settings for voice server. January 27, 201412 yr Author Thanks for your reply Kyprianos! After watching FSXGenius' video on Vatstim Tutorial I was able to get it working. I must say I'm quite embarrassed because it was a rather simple fix. I had to allow FSinn permission through my firewall and also I had to check the box "Allow Vatsim voice on this computer" in the FSFDT control panel. I had many successful flights online this weekend and I am now fully addicted to Vatsim! One question I have though is in regards to the liveries of other online members. All of the other online member's aircraft show up on my screen as the UT2 default livery Daedalus. They won't show up as what they actually are (Delta, Southwest, United, etc.). Any ideas on how to get the liveries to show up? Thanks! Ben Weaver SWA8485
