I was just about to post this Marcelo! This article is great! It really shows a great side of aviation that many of us seem to forget since we are so into the heavies and that passion for aviation that can get covered up by the usual commercial flying. It's about the operations of a small airline that flys float planes from the East River to The Hamptons and most of Long Island.Very interesting, talks about the pilots and what they have to do, why they like the job instead of flying heavies...Also talks about the problems and challenges of landing/taking off a busy river with lots of boats and junk... it also gives the profiles of the passengers that use the service...

Thanks Jason,That was a good article. I like how it espoused the character traits of its high to do clients. :-)I tried getting in with my Firebird browser, but It didn't like the cookies that site was pushing, so I had to load it up in IE.Argghhhh.... First pop-up in months since I used that browser.Thanks for doing that for me, I had not realized they used the East River for that.NY City is quite different than where I used to live, outside Chicago.In NY City, helicopters rule the skies of Manhattan, and now Sea Planes still exist there.Contrats that with Chicago where you have daley, the socialist mayor who closed Meigs and only lets very few emergency helicopters to fly only.Thanks again,Joe

No problem, Joe :D When I go to work with my dad, we take the ferry up the East River- and I have done it dozens of times and never even seen a seaplane/boatplane , yet hundreds of helicopters :D (which is ok still :D ) His office looks right out onto one the the heliports (dont even ask which one :-lol , it would be like asking the name of a private airstrip 6000 miles away :( ) ...really cool sight! :-jumpyJason

I used to work at Water St and Broad St, close to a heliport (can't remember the name). During summer, I'd go to a place where I could eat my lunch while watching the helos land and take off. I was able to occasionally spot a sea plane flying around, not sure but it looked like a Caravan to me.I even got to see Bill Clinton and his huge helos landing there... :-)

Yea, I was lucky enough to see Clinton come around once, amazing sight (the helos.... :-lol )
