January 31, 201412 yr OK, so being a newbie around avsim.net, I posted this in the Round the World Race forum, and only then realized that that forum is only for the race, so I'm posting it here...Back when I was a kid/young teen, I was into MSFS 2000. I started off following the Microsoft Flight Simulator Team's Around the World flight that started and ended at Meigs Field, but real life pulled me away from MSFS for awhile, and now that I've gotten a copy of FSX, the articles that gave instruction for each leg have long since been taken down. I'd like to finish what I started, as I already had made it more than halfway around (I was partway finished with Leg 13 of 22--the one that starts in Italy). I know someone somewhere still has the route information (or at least that it existed in an archive somewhere long after the demise of Microsoft's old Article Archive), because they were able to mention some factoids about the trip on the left bar here: http://www.microsoft...Experience.aspxDoes anyone have any ideas on how I can get a hold of the route/waypoints?If you can't help me, or if I'd be more likely to get quality help in a different forum here, please let me know which one--like I said, I'm very new to this site, and there isn't an FS2000 forum anymore (not that I'd use it anyway, now that I have FSX)!p.s. I got the suggestion to come here for information from none other than the Cascade Game Foundry, which means that it may have come from a member of the original team (and if it didn't, it came from one of their employees)!
January 31, 201412 yr Hi Phil, I think you might to be too late to grab the hop list for an event which looks like being more than 10 years old now. On the bright side I think you'll find that flying around the world is the unavoidable nature of flight simming, so I would just pick up from just about anywhere and somewhere in Italy would do just fine. If you want more of a challenge then try to follow the route in the RTW Race forum this year as they will be taking off in a couple of weeks from now. FSX is a huge improvement over FS2000 so there's plenty for you to do and see. You'll also find a huge number of third party products which you can buy or download from the Avsim library so really you've got a lot of catching up to do. Anyhow, good luck with it and welcome to Avsim. Mike Beckwith
March 28, 201412 yr Author haha I know that FSX is a huge improvement--I've been searching for this hop list since I got FS2004 a few years ago:) And it seems like a lot of the freeware addons for FSX are ported over from FS9, which means that the props peek out from behind cloud banks in a weird way:( That's one current challenge that I'm working on--figuring out a way to fix that without resorting to making the props transparent (or nearly so).

March 30, 201412 yr Author Here you go. THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started this at least 10 years ago, and it was my first RTW trip...and I've never gotten around to attempting to start a new one. Now, with the latest in FSX technology--and probably VATSIM, which is a huge step-up from FS2000--I can now finish the RTW trip that I started...you have no idea how many years I've been looking unsuccessfully for this!
