ETOPS Airports in the FMC

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am trying to enter my ETOPS airports (SCIP and SCIE) in the RTE 2 page of the FMC (without using the FIX page) like it is almost done in the real aircraft by pilots.

Unfortunately, I can't enter ICAO codes in the Route page to the right, and it does not work either in the legs page.

Is this feature implemented in the PMDG ? or is it planned for a future update ?

Normally, we enter the first ETOPS airport, then the ETP, and at last the second ETOPS airport.

Hi Clive, thanks for the link. Very useful tutorial !

This is how I am trying to do but maybe as I am in the air already, it does not work.

I will try on the ground on my next flight.

I fly EDTO/ETOPS all the time and have never been trained to used RTE 2 in such a fashion. RTE 2 should be a copy of RTE 1.

From the Honeywell manual:

"The route copy function permits the pilot to copy the active flight plan into the alternate route, in this case, RTE 2. When this is done, changes can be made to a copy of the active route, or the active route can be preserved before making a major modification"

We do use the fix pages for the ETP. Putting the alternates into the fix pages is good for situational awareness but not necessary as it's all a planning exercise for preflight. Manually entering the alternates into ALTN page is a great idea.
