NEED HELP PLEASE!

Recommended Posts

I have been playing flight simulator for a while now and have many different addons. My problem is this: I have FTX Global and FTX Vector but my flight sim looks nothing like the screenshots, I have done Belynz's tweak guide, i have gon into FTX Central to enable it but it never seems to work. I will attach some screenshots of my settings, what my sim looks like and what I think it should look like. Also, the distnce always looks blurry even though MAXLODRADIUS is in 6.5 in the config... Please help.. I just want it to look good.

Maybe that's exactly the reason for your blurries: If your computer is too slow to load the textures on time (your system specs would be of help judging this), you will inevitably get blurries. However, you are right, it doe not look like the textures were even installed/replaced, but then again it's hard to really say that, becuase the laoded textures are extremely bad, they could possibly also be FTXG's.

I'd suggest to reduce the settings (particularly the detail radius, autogen and traffic) to ensure faster loading times and check if that helps anything. If not, it might really be helpful to post your system specs here (best way to do that is via the "My PC" tab in  your profile, so you only have to do it once).

Thanks for the reply guys, I do to think my system specs are an issue though bit if it helps, the. Here:

I7 4770k

Gtx 660

12gb ram

Installed on a 1tb 7200 hdd

As for belynz, he is a very good youtube that provides a variety of different guides

An it would be great if someone could link me with a good tweak guide.

Thanks. -Lewis

OK, you shouldn't have too big troubles on that computer (but one very important piece of info is still missing: the processor speed - and that has quite an impact on FSX performance), that's right - but unless you know them you can never be sure about it, that's why I asked for the specs.

A really good tweaking guide is the AVSIM Configuration Guide, which can be found here: http://forum.avsim.net/files/file/41-basic-fsx-p3d-configuration-guide/, and maybe the Hardware & Software Guide is also interesting: http://forum.avsim.net/files/file/1-fsx-hardware-software-guide/

You say that "FTX Central never seems to work" - what does it say to make you believe that? I mean you are right, it really doesn't look like it switches textures, but I'm not sure if that's not actually the installer's job. I sometimes had the problem that (for whatever reason, I don't know) FTX Central stopped responding just when I clicked the "Apply region" button, which had the effect that changes would not become effective. Could that be your problem?

Check and install latest service packs from ORBX website, and check scenery priorities in scenery library.

Use some guide to tweak windows 7(you should have windows 7 64bit for best performance with FSX), and use some guide for FSX. The best of the best are Avsim(fpr DX10) and Word Not Allowed's(DX9)guides in my opinion. Anyway, don't use every blog or youtube channel, there are a lot of them about FSX, but very few of them knows what they are talking about
