I decided...

Recommended Posts

Wish I could have the same outlook. Ok, I'm lying I really don't. I deleted all my installs a few months ago.  I miss it but I actually don't.  Too much work, too many people trying to sell you bridges and developers who take QA secondary and tell their customers to go pound sand when they complain about shotty work and vague support. (I'm looking at you John Venema)

Flight Simming with FSX/P3D is a one way ticket to Stockholm Syndrome.

I plan on eventually buying X-Plane but for now.. I'm at peace not having to deal with any of this anymore.

I'm kind of in the boat with you, although I have no interest in X-plane.    Maybe 6 months, maybe a year.  Depends when the right native addons come out, when certain issues that are deal breakers for me are resolved (no matter how minor or tolerable others might see them), and when the time and price is right to upgrade my current hardware to something that would be more optimal for P3D.  I'm mainly a tube flyer, so FSX with ASN is experiencing a little Rennaissance.  I guess ASN will be out for P3D soon enough.

Does v2.1 give me slight stutters? Nope.

Does v2.1 give me slight blurries? No.

Does v2.1 give me graphical spikes? Negative.

Does v2.1 give me OOMs? Had 1.

Does v2.1 give me problems with Simconnect? Nada.

2.1 is great. I'm seeing so many OOM problems, stutters, etc in the forums that I keep flying P3Dv2.1 just to see if I'm imagining things. I'm not, the thing is stellar. The one OOM was during a flight with too many reflections on, a sky full of clouds, snow, and the B1900 from Carenado. I unchecked a box or two and redid the flight, no OOM.

Like a few others, I run FSX or XPX and after 10 minutes, shut them off and head into P3D world. For me, it's the one.

i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10,

P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

Thus inspired by Jeroen (thank you) I just flew an absolute and instructive wind-beaten beauty with P3D v2.1 from Dublin to Cork via Shannon. C172, REX textures down a bit, Opus, Vector, FTX Ireland, and many other settings high again now I know they are not what was creating my OOMs.

Veg Autogen to Sparse so far sidesteps OOM on my system entirely

The VAS situation stays calm

And FTX regions look very good even on Sparse especially when other settings can go high to sweeten the situation :)
