REX 4 - worth the upgrade?

Featured Replies

Does anyone use REX 4 in conjunction with Opus?

I currently use an older version of REX for textures in conjunction with Opus for weather and I find both excellent, but REX4 very impressive and looks like it's worth upgrading over an older version.

Did anyone else upgrade over an older version of REX? Is it noticeably better?

Thanks

I did notice a difference.

Clouds are quite similar especially when running 1024 dxt5 but sky colours and wave animations are IMO superb. Also runway markings and stuff looks a bit better.

Just my opinion.

Thanks.

I have FTX Global and only fly between airports I have payware software for, so really I guess I would just be getting clouds and waves essentially as the runway markings and things would be defined by the addon scenery.

Would you say it's worth it for the difference in clouds and waves? To be honest I may just take the plunge anyway as it's reasonably priced.

Thanks

I'd say you wait than for some bundle pack with weather direct (hope there will be one)

Although it is a new product for current Rex + Od owners it is not bringing such HUGE difference as it may be expected.

I'd put it this way - if you are willing to pay extra for super fast texture loading and nicer sky colours (I use it mixed with FSX shade) than go ahead = this is exactly what I did.

But is it reasonable? I don't think so although I am not reasonable at all when it comes to FSX.

Now where can I buy this new addon airport...... ;)
