Real World Weather....Without Rain?!

Featured Replies

This is probably a very silly question, but is it possible to use a third party weather software - like Opus - and have it inject real world weather into the sim, BUT ignore rain?!

Basically I like to fly in real world conditions, and I like the fact that it updates along the route, however I thoroughly dislike the rain effect in FSX and it ruins the enjoyment for me. So is it possible to somehow get the best of both worlds?

For example, I love the way Opus simulates a dark, foreboding sky that looks like it's going to chuck down with rain any minute, but don't like the actual rain

Is there an effect I can disable in the sim perhaps, so that it can't rain? Or is there something I can change in Opus?

Many thanks

I don't think so. That is why 3rd part weather apps replicate real weather. What you could do is save a weather theme that does not have rain. It won't be up to date weather, but you won't have rain.

Yeah that's what I think I'll have to do.

I was hoping there was a file I could remove that puts the rain effect in the sim, and that it wouldn't be able to rain if I moved or removed the file!

Maybe ask Stephen @Opus. You just never know :)

I think any real weather addon that could accomplish that would come out as a hero. FSX rain is terrible.
