March 14, 201412 yr Hi, I have VR MCPII (boeing), have downloaded LINDA, serial FP2, have FSUIPC, and the PMDG 77L...and am completely stuck. When the sim is started, Linda text appears in the sim (when I reload etc), and the MCP is connected to Linda (there is numbers etc on the MCP), however the two do not seem to talk with one another...ie doing anything to the MCP does nothing in the sim.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Alex
March 14, 201412 yr First of all stop using SerialFP2, that was replaced over 2 years ago by VRiSim, you will find all the latest official VRi software here http://www.vrinsight.com/devel_shot. Confirm the hardware is working with the VRinsight supplied software first, then try reinstalling Linda again, you should also see the guide below for more help. http://www.fs-linda.com/downloads/Introducing_LINDA_v1.01.pdf Cheers, Andy.
March 14, 201412 yr Author Thank you.I have VRi sim installed, and linda re-installed, is there anything that I should do now?FS starts up with Linda and VRI, linda recognises FSX and 77L. What I don't understand is how to get linda working, when it starts up it and recognizes the MCPII (as does VRI sim), but then it doesn't do anything. I realize this is probably something I am doing. As far as I can see, the manual doesn't seem to help either.
March 14, 201412 yr Please follow the extensively detailed guide written by a dedicated user, this isn't the manual that comes with LINDA. It will be quicker than trying to diagnose problems via the forum. Here it is again for your convenience. http://www.fs-linda.com/downloads/Introducing_LINDA_v1.01.pdf Also make sure both LINDA and FSX are run with the same user rights i.e. both run as administrator or both not, do not try and mix user rights. This goes for all programs that you want to connect to FS. P.S. You don't actually need to run VRiSim at the same time as LINDA, you only need it for any other VRi devices you may have which aren't being programmed through LINDA. Cheers, Andy.
March 14, 201412 yr Author I read both the manuals before coming here, rest assured I know I'm not the best with computers! Unfortunately neither have alluded to a solution for me. It loads, but Linda seems to have no effect on the MCP (ie the MCP doesn't do anything to FSX). I have also made sure they are both running with the same admin rights.I'm completely stumped with what to do. Sorry.
March 15, 201412 yr Author After more probing into what I am doing, when linda is on and 'synced' with FSX, there are on;ly two functions that work, then F/D and radios (i.e. behaves like the VRI sim software if you were to run it in default MSFS aircraft mode while using PMDG). No matter how many times I reinstall, fidget, change assignments, etc etc etc it still does the same thing. Any ideas?Much obliiged
March 15, 201412 yr Just an obvious suggestion — you *have* installed the aircraft module for your chosen aircraft (as well as LINDA itself itself), right? (Oh, and also double-checked that it is in the right place). Worth a try..... Cheers, Brian
March 15, 201412 yr Author hahaha! Yep. Provided that this ( http://www.fs-linda.com/downloads/modules/PMDG_777_v0_5.zip ) is what I need to place in the /fsx/modules folder then yes, I believe I have done that.I'm still stumped for what to do sorry.
March 18, 201412 yr Ah. The problem is that your screen's a bit fuzzy from here, so I'll have to ask you to be more specific. Do you literally mean that you placed the zip file in the modules folder (as you said), or that you unzipped it into there so that the contents propagated to the correct subdirectories? (You should have unzipped it into that location, which is why in my previous post I suggested that you double-check that everything is in the right place — did you check?). Sorry to ask, but it sounds as though something fundamental is wrong. If the above suggestion doesn't work, I can only suggest working carefully through the guidance in my "detailed" manual — the installation instructions begin on page 9, and the unzipping/checking process is described in the "Installing LINDA" section on page 15 (the same procedure applies when it comes to installing your aircraft module(s), of course). Good luck! Cheers, Brian
March 25, 201412 yr Author Hi.Yep, all unzipped into the correct location, confirmed all there. So I have carefully followed everything in your manual (which is brilliant by the way! ), but the PMDG 77L is still no good for some reason. It's all in the right place and working (the NGX works fine), but the T7 and CS 75/76 don't work for some reason. I'll have a look at the detailed log on the FS computer when I have time and provide more details.Sorry I can't be much more specific at this very moment, I am somewhat preoccupied with my studies. Once I've got PPL over (provided CPL doesn't throw exams at me in the first few weeks) I'll post back up here with more details. Thanks, Alex
