Static ships for harbors?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of any freeware scenery packages that include static ships for major harbors? The two ship-filled harbors that most strike me as crying out for a plethora of anchored ships to make them look more real on approach are Singapore and Istanbul, but I'm sure there are others. I noticed that Henrik Nielsen did release a "proof of concept" initial package that had some ships in the Rio de Janeiro harbor, but I haven't found anything else. Is there anything else out there?

I'd do it myself but I'm lacking in both time and technical skills at present...

Hi,

I didn't see your post until now - you can easily convert any of the ships from my AI packages to static versions with librarymaker - it takes a few moments. This is better than I do a big heavy library with plenty of ships, where maybe only a few are needed in a scenery.  I might do a few Harbour sceneries sometime... Now I have around 300 ships to play with, so that should do to fill most harbours...

Yes as mentioned you can get hold of a number of static ship packages in the library here and if there are mdl files included you can use a scenery placement tool to place them.

Actually, after I posted last month I did find your static ship packages, Henrik, and I put together some (very basic) static ship sceneries for Singapore and Istanbul. I didn't know how to turn your other models into static ones, unfortunately--maybe that can be my next project!

Thanks so much for your models and all your work--it really adds to immersion in a great way.
