March 30, 201412 yr I'm a layman, and pretty much of a dunce when it comes this scenery stuff. As I understand it FTX Global simply replaces default textures with better ones and adds some landclass as well. Vector changes coastlines and does a lot of stuff UTX does except on a global as opposed to regional bases. I have FTX Global installed since I am collecting all those freeware Global airport packages. I purchased Vector, but dumped it because some rivers in Western Canada were missing, namely the Pelly River in the Yukon. So I reinstalled all my UTX (I have all of them). Those are the preliminaries. Now comes the question. Can I install BOTH Vector and UTX placing the UTX entries above the Vector entry in the scenery library? That way I can have the best of both worlds; UTX for North America and Europe and Vector for the rest of the world. Will that work? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
March 30, 201412 yr OK trouble. Before you dump Orbx' Vector be aware that V1.2 is due any time soon. From the screens that have been posted it looks bloody good! Now I know you can't tell from just a few screenies but the difference between V1.1 and V1.2 look terrific. You'd be up to your neck in rivers! I also have grave misgiving about mixing and matching so I'm going to stick with Orbx across the board. I have no experience of using UTX and Vector but I would put Ford parts in a BMW. March 30, 201412 yr Author Well, I tried moving UTX to the top of the library and installing Vector. It didn't work. My rivers are still gone. I going with you Ron. I'm going to uninstall UTX, leave Vector in place, and wait for version 1.2. I guess being banned from the official Orbx community has disadvantages. I wasn't aware of Vector 1.2. The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
March 30, 201412 yr Commercial Member From the screens that have been posted it looks bloody good! I haven't really seen any shots of 1.2.. but then I don't folow the FTX forums super close either. Is there a thread in the FTX Vector sub-forum worth looking at? Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

March 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the link. Very typical FTX forum thread; a couple of official posts and 3 pages of people saying 'awesome' and 'thanks'. I don't mean that to be overly cynical or mean-spirited, but I've never seen the type of rah-rah-love on the internet as on the FTX forums and I've been online since there was an internet (and bbs's before that...)! That said, the move away from OSM data for North America looks like it will be a huge improvement indeed. Once released, it may finally convince me to buy. Since the majority of my flying is in western / northern Canada, I've stayed away primarily due to reports that the water bodies weren't represented very well. Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
March 31, 201412 yr Author Wish I could see it Ron. But when I click on your link I get this: You do not have permission to view this forum. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

March 31, 201412 yr Author Thanks John. I got it. Looks good. A lot more water. BTW...Orphaned river sections are called oxbows over here. Favorite places for ducks, geese, cranes, and swans to winter. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
March 31, 201412 yr Thanks John. I got it. That's 'Ron' you silly old sod! The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
March 31, 201412 yr Author Sorry Ron. Another one of my many senior moments. I've got too much on my plate now. Flight Simming, Train Simming, and now building an N-Scale model railroad in a room in the house that has recently become vacant. I have less spare time since I retired than I did when I was working. The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
