After FlightFX+SweetFX FSX SP2 crashing without any warning (no fatal error)

Featured Replies

Hi,

My FSX crashes without any warning or fatal error on the startup, The crashing started after i installed FlightFX+SweetFX. It was working fine like 30 minutes and when i rebooted my computer my FSX just crashes on the startup without any warning. I have tweaked my fsx.cfg with the venetubo thing but i put the backup back on the FSX folder, but it didnt help. Please help. BTW i have windows 8.1.

If you have SweetFX installed, that is most likely the cause. SweetFX is mostly not compatible with FSX. Only a rare few are able to use it without crashing. If you look at the AVSIM CTD Guide, located to the right under Hot Spots, it will provide you information about SweetFX and what modules to remove from your main FSX folder. Move those files to a temporary folder and see if the crashes end. If not, you will need to post a crash report. Look on page 1 of the AVSIM CTD Guide for instructions and links to the AppCrashView program. You should also post your system specs.

If you have any FS Dreamteam scenery or BluePrint or FlightBeam scenery I have found that this sometimes gets corrupted and FSX will no longer start up properly. All you need to do is download the latest Addon Manager from the FSDT website and reinstall it.
