FS9 hangs when loading aircraft for default flight,.. why?

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been having no problems with FS9 for the longest time, except now I can't start it beyond the aircraft/date/airport selection screen. It seems to hang before it displays the rotating model of the selected aircraft - the bottom half of the screen just hangs. There are no error messages and I am always forced to reboot. Could a critical file be corrupted?Any ideas? Thanks!

Now I'm getting desperate here... I even re-installed FS2004 and the same thing occurs.Anyone have an answer?

Hi,If rebuilding fs9.cfg doesn't do it, try deleting your default startup flight (default.flt) and start FS. The default.flt is located in C:Documents and Settingsyour user nameMy DocumentsFlight Sim Files.Hope this helps.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS...Before "reinstalling FS..."1) Rename the FS9.cfg file to FS9.bak, then start FS and allow it to build a new fs9.cfg file. If this doesn't solve the problem, goto step #2.2) Delete the default.flt file, then start FS and create a new default flight. If this doesn't solve the problem, goto step #33) Go to step #1, you probably screwed it up... ;)If all else fails, take up golf or knitting as hobbies...Seriously, "reinstalling FS" should never need to be done unless you've somehow managed to throughly hose up the files, or have had some form of hard drive error.
