Torque... Anyone heard about this?....

Featured Replies

I guess this is a subject never brought to this forum.

I actually believe this was unheard before on any flight simulation forum, so, I decided to start this topic on Torque...

Do you know it can affect an aircraft with any sort of, prop / fan?  Well, it can, and the guilty is always that poor english guy who got an apple on is head when it felt from a tree...

Anyway, this is an interesting thread at PPrune, and it talks about torque on jet/turbofan engines, and why it is negligible compared to torque on prop / turboprop engines / aircraft.

Thought you might find it interesting to read, specially some of the posts from people who really know what they are talking about ....

Torque effects on Jet/Turbofan Engines...

And, I was once talking to a german Luftwafe pilot who had flown the Starfighters at Beja Airbase in Portugal and he told me the f104 had such a powerful turbine, and such a high wing loading, that when throttling it up torque was a factor!
