February 3, 200521 yr I've recently lost all touchdown smoke upon landing. I'm sure its not because of always greasin' em in either. I wish. Could someone please suggest other areas to check besides the obvious special effects settings in the display section. I've noticed when watching the landing that it seems to want to generate the smoke (the fuselage is blocked out as if smoke were being generated, but its by an invisible effect). I have the fx.touchdown file in the effects folder too. What the......! Thanks, Tom
February 4, 200521 yr On just one aircraft or ALL of them? Did you try out the heavies?Does this have anything to do with that small addon? the touchdown effect?'cause if it's just one, then open the aircraft's .cfg and scan down to make sure the "effect" is listed for that a/c and look for the effects line:touchdown=fx_tchdwn, 1or look like this:touchdown=fx_tchdwn_s, 1The difference is that there is very little smoke on touchdown now which is appropriate for Lear45s and other smaller planes, while the first one is for large planes.
February 4, 200521 yr Its on all the aircraft. And it was going on before I downloaded the touchdown effect addon recently. I've opened up various aircraft cfg. files and all looks well. I'm stumped.
February 4, 200521 yr It sounds to me that if it affects ALL of your a/c, perhaps your touchdown smoke file (fx_tchdwn.fx) has become corrupted. I have had several files go bad on me in various versions of MSFS over the years (usually for no apparent reason), and I generally reinstal the specific file if I can identify it.Better yet, go to the AVSIM library and download the new touchdown smoke file (which is stunning!) and instal that. Does it work?JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
