I have read all the manuals from my printed versions of them.

 

I had seen the Action and Malfunction Codes .. but when you said "Bear in mind that the CIVA INS does come with 'faults" ...  I assumed you meant "problems" running as an add-on gauge with FS9 or FSX.

There are no faults in respect of the gauge working in the sim. The faults as you have decribed are the action and malfunction codes. They can and do pack up in mid flight. Not often but it can happen.
