Hey All,I just wanted to point out two recently released ultralights.First - a skyrangerhttp://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...=61026&Cookie=1Thank You! They are the reality of flying for many people who for one reason or another can't qualify for a PPL.Lets look at this example of an ultralight:Only one of these planes has ever been built and flown. http://www.skyshops.org/mermaid/mermaid%20...bin/mermai7.jpgA second is near done yet 119 of them have been sold. Compare that to the actual production of say the Cheyenne 400LS or the Howard 500 as well as many more planes. This is no knock on the Cheyenne or the Howard - both are wonderful planes that I enjoy flying and that have been perhaps even more wonderfully modeled. It's just that I like variety and ultralights are a part of that. It's good to see people paying them some attention.Just my $0.02 Can!Take Care! -Ed-PS Now if somebody would just do this plane - sigh...

Freaky they are actually ultra light ...

Hey All,Freaky is right! In Canada an ultralight or advanced ultralight (most of the time) is any plane that has a gross takeoff weight of about 1250 lbs (more with floats) and a stall speed less than 45 mph. As I understand it this is close to the definition of sport pilot planes in the US. I know that other countries have similar definitions and in some cases call them ultralights. I used to think an ultralight was a wing with a small motor and a human hanging underneath it. But no more - the term ultralight encompasses far more aircraft than that.Take Care! -Ed-
