February 9, 200521 yr I have never had this problem before in the 15 years I have used FS. I have recently purchased the CH pro pedals, which I use with my Saitek X45. No problems for a few weeks until last night my rudder stopped working. If I look at the rudder while imputing commands to it, it jumps. It starts to go to the right or left then jumps back to neutral. I have unplugged all joysticks and still has the same problem. Any advice?? Makes flying useless if I can not get it. Thanks.
February 9, 200521 yr Hi Cameron,Give this a try, 1.load default plane2.in menu, Options/Controls/Assignments3.Click on Joystick Axes4.Highlight Saitek x 455.Scroll down to Rudder Axes,if box is checked6.Delete this Joystick assignmentHope this helps,Best,Brett EFFC 315
February 9, 200521 yr Thank you, I appreciate the suggestion. Unfortunately, all is correct with the settings, I think it must be a deeper issue. If anyone has experienced this problem or may have other advice, other than a new installation, I would be most appreciative.
February 9, 200521 yr Cameron,Sorry this was of no help,I have same setup, and had the same problem. It still reoccurs ,sometimes I have to delete fs9 cfg.My problem has only shown up when I use Real Air Scout. Not blaming the Scout it may be that its just because i fly the Scout 75% of the time.Brett
February 9, 200521 yr I had the exact same problem, and it was as Brett mentioned. The x45 rudder control somehow became "un-disabled". So when I moved the rudder, the neutral setting from the x45 snapped it back to the center position. The two controllers were fighting for control. If you already checked the x45, check any other controllers as well for any rudder control in the joystick menu. Make sure you re-check everything, don't just assume it is the same way as it was when you set it up. Controllers have a strange way of resetting themselves sometimes. Check any controller which might be plugged in. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 9, 200521 yr Those symptoms sound very similar to ones I had only months after buying my CH pedals Cameron. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC look at the output of the rudder as you move the pedals. If nothing seems to happen in either direction for quite a distance and then there is a 'kick', it may be a dismantle job.I took my pedals apart and found that the bar which connects the rudder bar to the potentiometer had jumped out of its locating hole so moving the pedals did not move the potentiometer until the pedal bar caught the 'loose' bar connected to the potentiometer.I had a habit of tapping my feet on the base (not while flying I hasten to add :-)) and suspect the slight jolting caused the bar to become uncoupled. You can either return the pedals under warranty or have a go at repairing them yourself. The operation is a little tricky because initially you can only open the base a short way without risking breaking the wires on the toe brakes and rudder and trying to get the bar relocated has to be done with the base almost closed because of limited clearance.IIRC the bar has a 'peg' at each end which sits in a hole on the rudder bar and one at the potentiometer end and it is just a question of dropping the peg back into the hole.
February 9, 200521 yr All right, thanks for all the help. I will go over all the ins and outs again. Vulcan, I am hoping I do not need to 'go inside." When I go to calibrate the pedals they seem to respond well. I will go over the check boxes again and see what happens. Thanks again.
February 9, 200521 yr If they look OK under calibration then you don't have the problem I had Cameron, so breathe a sigh of relief :-)One thing you might check is power management of the USB devices.Go to Device Manager and right click on each USB Root Hub, select properites then Power Management tab. Untick the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and see if that cures it.Best of luck.
February 10, 200521 yr Sometimes it is the simple stuff. Depending on the aircraft, make sure you do not have the yaw damper enabled. It makes the setup feel as if you have no rudder control. I also have the X45 and the CH Pro Pedals and found that flying some of the new add-ons, especially the DF727
