Updating PFPX with new AIRAC cycle

Featured Replies

Hey ya'll,

I just updated PFPX with the most current AIRAC cycle and noticed that it ran through an update of the stored routes after the update. It showed there was 4,000 or so routes out of date. Is it recommended to delete them? Im concerned about losing alot of stored routes if I do this...the count would probably go from 9,000 or so to around 5,000.

I'm not a seasoned user of PFPX, but as it goes through the navaids, airports, SIDs and STARs, it is deciding that some routes cannot be used as they depended on out-of-date data. Until someone corrects me, I would say that if you intend to use the current AIRAC cycle information, it is fairly safe to delete those routes. I usually do, and PFPX deleted quite a few every cycle.

BUT - I usually don't use these published routes anyway, so I'm not losing anything. Hopefully, someone can give you better information, but I would say that deleting them is safe.
