Part 10 EGJB-EGKK sound issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am currently watching part 10, and I have some sound issues, for instance, when you talk about weather radar during the climb.

I can hear the engines sound but the dialog is muted. Or maybe you don't say anything for a short time ? The first glitch is around 30min40seconds just after the after takeoff checklist during the first right turn and before switching to guernsey approach.

But when the weather radar is turned on, there is a looooonngg silence, around 33min, if I remember well.

No, I mean, advance the video to 33min past the beginning, and you've got a silence when you turn on the weather radar. Then the dialog is back to normal, when contacting approach.

Yep, I concur, there is a small loss of audio from 33min 25secs to just after 34mins.

And just as an observation, shortly before the silence, ATC clears the flight to FL190 as a cruising level, a tad below the requested level of FL230. This is because FL190 is the maximum level available via ORTAC for London TMA inbounds. Brest Control run the airspace from FL200 and above, and they (reasonably) don't want to get involved with Channel Islands -  UK traffic that will be in their airspace for such a short time. Higher levels are available if aircraft route via Benix on the Cherburgh Peninsula.

For those who find such things of interest!

That's interesting stuff, thank you Eugene. In reality I printed off the original flight plan from Simbrief which put us up to FL230. Josh clearly knew this was too high, and accordingly left us at FL190 in line with real world ops.

Oh for a real pilot every time we flew!

I finally got to downloading and flying lesson 10 this week. The video still shows the gap in sound mentioned previously.

Also at 49:30 one of the ATC voice segments was not swapped.

Is the intention to fix this?

Great videos and looking forward to the next series.

cheers

Trev

Hi Trev

We have fixed it but the file in its uncompressed form is 17GB, so uploading it takes a while and then it has to be sent across to our five different resellers who need to download it and then upload it to their sites. Trying to do this is a bit like herding cats, so it hasn't been done yet. It's on the to do list before we embark on the FO course though.

Cheers

Ben
