Two Gps's?

Featured Replies

Why are their two GPS's?  And, it seems that the top one doesn't turn on.  It worked the first time I used it but not since.

Ya know, for the most part I love Cerenado's quality but every now and then, then tend to miss one or two things.

Bill,

Cannot answer your second question.  Why you cannot get it to turn on.  I have installed Reality XP GPS's in my A36, but cannot recall any issues before installing the RXP units in getting the standard Carenado GPS's to work.

Why two GPS units?  Even if the same model, GPS units have a multitude of functions.  With two installed you can simultaneously use each for separate functions.  So you can view the map on one and your flight plan nav list on the other.  Or use the second GPS to look up airport information such as NAV or COM frequencies, etc.   Also, when a bank of separate radios is not otherwise in place, a second GPS gives you NAV2 and COM2.  Also gives you backup or redundancy in case of the failure of one unit.
