FS9 and daylight hours in New Zealand

Featured Replies

HiIts 7:15pm and I am sitting at my PC with FS9.1 running. I have selected my home airport NZWN and set the time to 7:15pm, the correct date and season, but FS thinks its night time here. But as everyone now knows its the middle of summer here and as I look out of the window the sun is still about 20deg above the horizon, so there still a good hour and a half before dusk.So my question is - does anyone know if there is there any way that I can "teach" FS about sunrise/sunset at my location, so that when I select 7:15pm in the summer it does not display darkness?

Maybe give FSRealtime a try.It corrects time zone changes and other seasonal time fixes in certain areas. Its a shareware kind of product so you can try it for freee and if you like it..donate some money towards it.You have to have FSUIPC installed as well for it to work.I think its available in the Avsim libary. Filename is realtime_156802.zipThat might fix your dark nights anyway. Is worth as try anyway.Craig

Speaking of time zones in the Southern Hemisphere:Do they observe daylihgt-savings down there?I ask because I wanted to know if there is a seasonal deviation of an hour when you are in the northern hemisphere, yet in the same time-zone as, say Johannesburg where it is summer now.

Thanks for that suggestion, I will give it a try and see if it helps.Yes we observe daylight savings time here. During summer (i.e. Oct - Mar) the clocks go forward 1 hour. So if you observe daylight saving time, then I would expect there to be 1 hour difference between Jo'berg and any other northern hemisphere city in the same time zone.

Gudday Mike.Haven't seen you around here in a while.Just thought I'd say hello.Cheers TimKaroriWellington

Hi Tim,Hope your keeping well. I am always around, but usually only contribute when I have something to say - or more likely, need help.
