May 19, 201412 yr First let me say thank you Adi for sharing your knowledge on this gem. I do however, have a problem since installing SFX from your package you put together. When starting up FSX almost every time, I get a Fatal Error and the program immediately crashes with the following info: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: fsui.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.61637.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 46fadb59 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0003d058 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 4105 Additional information about the problem: LCID: 4105 My specs are: W7/64B FSX/DX9 GTX580/1.5G Your help on this would be greatly appreciated, as my software knowledge is pretty limited. May 19, 201412 yr Author Hi, did you uncheck anti-aliasing from within fsx display options? Yes, I followed your instructions exactly as read. Rick Hobbs
May 19, 201412 yr Author Do you any compatibility settings your fsx shortcut? No, it is exactly as originally placed when I installed FSX + Acceleration. Rick Hobbs
May 19, 201412 yr Author Ok, do you run fsx as an administrator?Yes, all my apps are. I also have my FSX on a dedicated hard drive, I am running MSE antivirus with FSX and all associated apps excluded from automatic scans. My User Account settings are also off. Edit: fsui.dll was named in the error details, could this have anything to do with it? Just a question from a complete dummy when it comes to these problems. Rick Hobbs
May 19, 201412 yr Author OK, will have to try tomorrow, am not at my FSX rig till then. Just bare in mind though: this does not happen constantly, sometimes FSX fires up normally with no problems and I can go fly. I do however almost always get the FSX crash on exit, something I haven't seen for a while until now. Look's awesome when it lets me fly by the way, so I really want this to work. Regards, Rick Hobbs
May 20, 201412 yr Ok, what I want you to do is, go to your exe.xml and turn off all add-ons that start with fsx. See if we can catch it that way.
May 21, 201412 yr Author Hi Adi, I have spent some time and done the following: Rebuilt my FSX .cfg Disabled APPS in exe XML that start with FSX. (ONLY ONE = Couatl) Made several short flights and several exits and restarts of FSX, but still get the odd Fatal Error. (with or without XML edit) One thing I forgot to mention was that I had FSX included in my Razer Game Booster, which I use for my other game, so I removed FSX and my crash on exit (that started after I installed SFX) has stopped. luckily this is only sporadic, so I can still use SFX and your setup, which I really like and in my case, has given me a couple or so more FPS.. Regards, Rick Hobbs
May 22, 201412 yr Sorry for taking long with my reply, been a tad busy. Sounds like you nailed it! no error at all? what do you mean sporadic? This is great, helps me build the FAQ page! slowly, but surely.
May 22, 201412 yr Author Sorry for taking long with my reply, been a tad busy. Sounds like you nailed it! no error at all? what do you mean sporadic? :)This is great, helps me build the FAQ page! slowly, but surely. This is a bit of a weird one, what I mean is, just out of the blue one time when I go to start up FSX it will give me that fatal error pop-up message at the bottom right corner of the task bar a few seconds after double clicking my desktop shortcut to FSX (no different if I go directly to the exe in my FSX root). Then The FSX splash screen goes away. However, if I simply try again, FSX starts up and everything is normal. After several hours looking at this, I notice that this seems to be on my first attempt of starting FSX immediately after booting up my rig. This morning it did not happen even then and after 3 FSX start ups - no problem. Regards, Rick Hobbs
