Throttle/Engine Surge When Expecting Idling & Low Revs

Featured Replies

This issue relates to ALL fixed/rotary jet and prop (default and add-on) craft.

Having read through many specific forum related topics across the sim industry, nothing actually pinpoints where this issue lies.

For rotary the helo decides to lift off by itself, or if descending to land, it does not want to come down to earth! Yes I know of the slight modification for the default 101, but that is what prompted to seek out the issue as it was surging on all craft.

When you look at the throttles they move on their own or they quickly jump between idle and full throttle for a few seconds at a time!

As a matter of habit I always start with a default Cessna, cold and dark, saving it before selecting an aircraft that I will use for the first time.

If there is someone out there that can pinpoint what the issue is and how to rectify it, it will really be appreciated.

Thank you

Are you using a Saitek throttle quadrant? If so the potentiometers are probably dirty and need to be cleaned for a better operation.

To clarify, this visual is within the panel on the screen when you look at the throttles either in 2D or VC. It is not physical hardware!

I had that same thing happen with my Saitek throttle. The throttles in the VC would begin moving on their own to random settings. It was impossible to fly an Airbus because it would move the throttles and I couldn't engage that specific section (I think it's CL on the quadrant?)

When you disconnect the joystick and use the throttle for the throttles does it jump around?

Michael, I don't have separate throttles just a normal joystick. Disconnecting the USB for the joystick is then like sitting on one's hands and watching paint dry!

It is purely a bug, I think, within the fsx.cfg because it happens for all craft.

Thank you

I'm just asking that if you disconnect the joystick and use the keyboard for throttle just as a test, do the throttles move around? I understand that the throttle is connected to your joystick, but if the throttles jump around while the joystick is disconnected, then it's a problem within FSX. If they only jump around when the joystick is connected, then it is more likely a hardware problem. I'm assuming you've tried calibrating the joystick too?

I have two different joysticks and I have the same issue. However, I do not have this problem in FS9.

I will see what happens with the keyboard controls and come back to you, probably tomorrow now.

Thanks

Hmm, perhaps you might just have to play around with the null zone and sensitivity settings within FSX? It's strange that they work fine in FS9. See what happens I guess.
