May 25, 201412 yr I'm newbie in the PMDG777 and during my first flight yesterday I noticed something cool, the aircraft does taxi on idle B). Maybe that's old news but I haven't checked this forum for months. Anyway, I also noticed that my brakes are not effective at all for some reason when I'm going at about 15kt I have to press on the brakes for almost 7-10 seconds in order for the aircraft to come to a complete stop. I know that if your aircraft is heavy maybe that would make sense but it was just for a quick test flight and I only had 15 tons of fuel. Any idea why that is happening? I later tried the PMDG 747 and the brakes were very responsive. I'm using saitek rudder pedals. Best Regards, Sagga Toure
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Strange, most people complain that the brakes are way too powerful. 10 seconds to stop from 15kts sounds like no braking action at all... Rob Prest
May 25, 201412 yr I have those pedals, in my FSUIPC my sensitivity curve is set to as soft as possible, and it still is way way way too much braking. In every aircraft. Not sure what else I can do.
May 25, 201412 yr I have Saitek pedals since a few days as well. There are different ways to set them up and calbrate them. The method I use even allowes gradually increasing brake pressure as the brake pedal is pressed. (I have not flown much with them yet, but that is what it felt like so far). this is what I did: Connected the new Saitek rudder pedals. They were recognized by Windows automatically so I did not install the driver from the CD. Both the rudder and brake (L/R) were recognized by FSUIPC and worked fine for the PMDG777. In FSUIPC I used: Axis rudder set (it is important you find the correct entry....under the "A" not under the "R" for rudder!) Axis right/left brake set Joystick calibration: only brake pedals and spoilers I have calibrated in FSUIPC (rudder, aileron, elevator are set as well via Axis aileron (etc) set, but not calibrated in FSUIPC) Hope this helps Rob Robson
May 25, 201412 yr As far as I know, the 777 models brake fade. Try to replace the brakes in the CDU, under the maintenance section. Name available upon request
May 26, 201412 yr Author Thanks, for the replies. I have not installed the drivers from saitek, windows recognised and found them for me. I also have the sensitivity set to max in the FSX control options. I have never used FSUIPC, does it override FSX control options and settings? @KriVa I also noticed that on the CDU, but I thought that would only affect me after landing and using the brakes and not right from the start. I'll give it a try though. I don't want to run over my Marshaller again! Regards, Sagga Toure
May 27, 201412 yr No FSUIPC? Wow.... I did not know you could use brake peddals in FSX without FSUIPC, lol Rob Robson
May 27, 201412 yr Author No FSUIPC? Wow.... I did not know you could use brake peddals in FSX without FSUIPC, lol It does work without FSUIPC. But I think, you get less tweak options with FSX control axis settings. Sagga Toure
May 30, 201412 yr I'm still not happy with my FSUIPC setting for my brakes. I remember I had to select reverse pedals in FSX controls config to get the L & R working for L & R but they are still too touchy. I'm going to tinker around doing some manual RTOs I think. I'm a practical learner so seeing a video on how to set up the saitek in FSUIPC would be awesome.
