vertical sync

Featured Replies

Hi just wanted to give some feedback on the vertical sync, and I agree with Robert in the 'welcome posting,' that in my case also I get extreme tearing unless I use the 1/2 refreash rate,

In fact the only way I can solve it is to disconnect the HDMI cable and revert to  DVI and then set the 1/2 refreash rate.

using dx10 along with your imported NVI settings.

big improvement for me moving to dx10, although not quite getting the screen quality as seen on some of the screen shots being posted, however that may be down to my monitor. syncmaster t240hd tv/mon and my 'ability'! to tune the colours in the NVidia control panel to get the right balance.

The NVI settings alone aren't enough. You need to configure fsx's inner AA settings as explained, and then the resulted image will be perfect.

Thanks for the fast response, have set AA in game, and checked that steve's dx10 fixer cfg setting for multisamplesperpixel=4 and multisamplequality=0 are correct.

the image I'm getting is a lot better with dx10 and sfx than I had with dx9 and I think its just down to the monitor.

as with the hdmi cable I will get another just in case there is a fault with it.

Some HDMI cables are made out of standard and that can cause issues.. usually the cheap ones they sell in retail mall shops. It doesn't mean you have to get an expensive one, but preferably from a less generic brand. YMMV in this kind of things.

I'm using a display-port cable to run my u2410 @ 1200p and 1/2 v-sync doesn't seem to work nice. I wonder if dvi, indeed makes any difference, or perhaps it's because my monitor is 1200p and not 1080p. In 1200p, the refresh rate is 59hz, while it's a nice round 60hz @ 1080p. So, you can't get a genuine 1/2 refresh @ 1200p.

With the packages I created, I aimed to get 100% equal results in terms of AA and SweetFX for all options, namely, FSX DX9/DX10 & P3D2.

Thanks for that, I'll look for a new cable, however just done aflight in the a2a172 and the graphics were fantastic. Something must have clicked, I'm running at 1900x1200 (native).

Will let you know if the problem happens with a new hdmi cable.

Once again thanks for all the help and advice and of course for sfx.
