As an old-timer who regularly went to the local airport planes to view the old prop planes, and who has a nostalgic feel for old photographs, I think you hit a home run with your posting.  I realize not all flight sim enthusiasts will feel the same way about doctored photos (and converted to B/W), but you certainly have my vote.
