Cannot get GLOBAL/LOCAL Shift key to work

Featured Replies

All the keys function properly in Unshifted Mode. Switching to Shifted Mode they work properly also.

BUT--LINDA will not return to the Unshifted Mode.

When the Global Mode would not revert I tried Local but the same thing happens.

Tried a different Shift key with same results.

Any solution appreciated. I re-checked the manual and cannot see that I did anything wrong.

Thanks

Hi Neil

I can confirm that the LOCAL SHIFT and GLOBAL SHIFT are latching on.  All I can say is that no (intentional) changes were made to the Unshifted/Shifted mode in LINDA 2.0.  The only fixes carried out in the Key Press area was to allow CTRL+NUMx keys to be recorded.  I don't use  any shifted functions myself.

The only way to clear the SHIFT is to restart the lua engine.

Hi Neil

I have tested this with LINDA 1.13 and I initially found that the problem with both LOCAL and GLOBAL SHIFT latching ON is also present in the previous version of LINDA. However, further testing unearthed a strange behaviour.

First, I set the LOCAL/GLOBAL SHIFT to a button on my Saitek Throttle Quadrant. In this case the shift was latched on and would not cancel. Secondly, I assign the SHIFT modes to a button on my CH FlightStick Pro and the shift only occurred while the button was pressed and then self-cancelled on release.  This logic can be seen on the LINDA Console. The effect applies to both LINDA 1.13 and 2.0.

But, and there is a but. When shifted, I found that the unshifted function was actioned in addition to the shifted function. This is not correct. Further investigation is needed.

In all cases, remember that LINDA must be running for the joystick buttons to be recognised and actioned.

PS. There is still a problem when the shifted mode is latching in some cases. I will explore further.  In the meantime, I would suggest avoiding using the SHIFTed modes.

Thanks Scott-- I only identified using LINDA 2 for info. The problem was identical in 1.13 and it does appear that SHIFT is just not reliable, Like you, I also tried different buttons (Saitek quadrant/Cessna yoke) and had the same kind of results.

Too bad. Unshifted mode and two Saitek quadrants will get the Q400 from Start APU to ready to Taxi. Just a few more buttons would handle After TO.

Regards

Neal
