Swithching FSX from SSD C:\ drive to..

Featured Replies

I have two hard drive disk in my PC.

First HD is SSD  C:\ contains OS , P3D and FSX and all major add-ons

Second HD K:\ have  free space 914GB. Almost empty

I want to keep OS and P3D in SSD 1st drive and move FSX to K:\ drive

I never done it before. Here are my two questions:

1- Can I move FSX Folder Copy/Pase to K\ ? ( This will be easy way)

2- Do I have unistall FSX and all FSX addons and reinstall them to K;\? (This will be hard way)

Thanks

Safest way is to uninstall/reinstall but you can copy/paste BUT you need to change the registry settings for FSX. There is a tool that will do that BUT your add-ons might not work IF they rely on their own registry setting.

Really think you should uninstall and reinstall FSX and all add-ons.

Vic,

Thanks for your reply. You are right. Uninstall/reinstall way to go.

Having tried the "easy" way in the past, using the "Move" option to move FSX to another drive, it indeed causes problems with complex add-on's. The big advantage with a fresh install is that it will be "clean" with no partial files that may be present from incomplete uninstalls. A new install should run better but it does take time.

Good Luck!
