August 15, 201411 yr Hi: I am, as I type this, downloading P3D (Academic)...(Only 3 more hours to go!) Was just wondering if anyone has any basic advice for the first install of the program...Any wise hints would be appreciated...I guess the new 2.3 version needs no tweaks, but anything else of use to me would be helpful! Thanks a lot and I am sure I will be haunting this forum for a while to come... Steve Steve 7 Miles NW of KGCK
August 15, 201411 yr Don't install it into the default Program Files x68 folder. That's the most important and only advice I can give. I myself have it at D:\Prepar3d v2 but anything other than the default folder is good. And as you said, no tweaks are needed so simply start with the default settings P3D will give you and change them to your liking (one by one: not everything at once) until you get the right quality-performance-balance for your PC.

August 15, 201411 yr Author Would the program benefit from running in it's own partition? Thanks for the reply... wow 3 more hours, took me under 20mins at 200mb/s I'm running at 650KB/S...Slight difference! Don't install it into the default Program Files x68 folder. Will that be easy to do in the installer? Steve 7 Miles NW of KGCK
August 15, 201411 yr Never had an issue running fsx or p3d under default paths i believe thats a myth, its the default install path provided by the developer do you suggest they are wrong, as long as your local admin no issues will arise Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
