FSX accessory - iPad vs Samsung Android

Featured Replies

We somehow lost track of our aged Samsung Tab 2 Android 4.2 tablet (WiFi only) during a recent trip and are looking to replace the functions for which it was used.

I will not consider a Windows based tablet as despite my positive experience with Windows 7, my wife's laptop with Windows 8 interface drives me absolutely crazy!

I used the Tab 2 for supplemental email retrieval (multiple accounts) , web connection for investment tracking (when traveling), streaming video of sports broadcasts (even when home), and beyond that when home I used the Tab 2 for support of my FSX flying. Flight planning.. Enroute charts and approach plates, Enroute weather. Winds aloft charts, etc all via Android apps.

This loss  gives us a chance to broaden our use, such as video exchanges with family members (all of them using Apple BUT also ALL preferring Skype (available on BOTH platforms) over Facetime). Skype is available on both platforms. My Flight Sim use is the next issue. Is there any FSX or (future P2D)  advanatage of iPad vs Android. Please attempt to be "factual" rather than "brand loyal" when responding as I am clearly aware that EXTREME brand loyalty exists as influence!

I consider myself quite the Android lover, and wouldn't give up my phone for an iPhone any day of the year.

That being said, I think your flying experience will be easier on an iPad. There are quite a few more GA/aviation apps on the App Store than there are on the Play Store, most of which can be configured for use in flight simming.
