August 23, 201411 yr I have been lucky I guess in that I have never had a real issues (only minor) hick ups with FSX until now, I have searched for help and understanding with this although I find some of the answers difficult to follow. I have reinstalled .NET Framework (4.5...) I have uninstalled Rex4DT, I have disabled UT2, ASN, I have run in Windows mode (opposed to full screen). I tried unsuccessfully to install .Net 2.1 & 2.2 based on one potential fix that people with far greater knowledge than I suggested as potential cause. As I am writing this you can guess I still have the same issue with FSX (using Steve's DX10); I cant fly for more than 10-15 mins before getting the error message below. I should say I am fumbling around in attempting to fix this as I don't really understand the specific error in the message below so I have posted reluctantly as I fear it is me and my general ignorance of these types of issues and terminology. I am near to uninstalling the lot and starting over and you know how painful that is if you have maybe 50 additional sceneries/airports etc etc. If someone can show me the way and the light before I uninstall I would be really grateful. See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xC000014B): Exception from HRESULT: 0xC000014Bat System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.SimConnect.RequestDataOnSimObjectType(Enum RequestID, Enum DefineID, UInt32 dwRadiusMeters, SIMCONNECT_SIMOBJECT_TYPE type) at .. August 23, 201411 yr Exception from HRESULT: 0xc000014B error - The 0xc000014B is a "broken pipe" exception. A pipe is a communication channel between two applications (such as FSX and an addon program like ASN or OPUS). SimConnect offers addons the possibility to use pipes to communication with FSX. A "broken pipe" is a situation where one of the pipes no longer exists, while the other tries to communicate using the pipe. I think this error is created because your communication channel(s)(pipes), networking, simconnect, etc., etc., are not connected properly because they are not shared. If they are not shared, how can they communicate with each other? Go to your FSX Folder and right click it and select properties. Once open you will immediately see whether the folder is shared or not. If not, click on Advanced sharing and the click on Share. Click apply and close. Now, you need to do this for any non-scenery addon too, like ASN to make sure it is properly shared in your network. Also make sure UAC is disabled.
