August 26, 201411 yr Your vid shows what I saw in version 2.0. Indeed... they are no worse with 2.3. The conditions sometimes make it far more obvious than at other times, especially if Stratus layers are being used. In normal flight its less of an issue, but if you like to make videos using an external view, the behaviour of these clouds is ridiculous. I fly a lot with open cockpit ac's, like the Tiger Moth, and it can be a serious issue there too, as you see far more sky than cooped up in the cab of a 747 or whatever... I can have a clear view to the front, only to turn my head, and have a cloud spin in to view, blocking my vision to the side, which is crazy. I have all but given up on LM doing anything about this, as it was a design choice, not a bug.. though they did say they would add an option, if enough wanted it, and I think a lot have indicated they would.
August 26, 201411 yr I also noticed but specially after getting ASN! I see a lot more clouds now and a lot more spinning and it is indeed killing the immersion when you look around with TrackIR. I think it's also a cause of the fog appearing and disappearing frequently. All in all I like ASN but those spinning clouds almost make me go back to a simple weather theme... For now I will use historic weather and pick a day where it's just slightly clouded.
August 26, 201411 yr Author Maybe it was the only way in which LM could introduce the cloud shadows to work, thus make the clouds spin. Spinning clouds has always been an issue with FSX/P3D but not as bad as this. As the are not volumetric, but sprites made up like billboards. As you pass them, you would get the 'swing door' effect or spinning. I wonder if the guys at REX have any feedback/info they could have as they would be the best to ask
August 26, 201411 yr Didn't LM mention something about a suprise in 2.4? Perhaps it is real volumetric clouds :-)
