August 31, 201411 yr Well, just when I have become very happy with P3D and how it performs, I get my first appcrash... That's a bummer. I was wondering if anyone can make some sense from the following information. My system is Dutch but I think/hope the information is clear. Anyone can figure out what went wrong here? Prepar3D 2.3, Windows 8.1 Update, nVidia 337.88 (GTX780 6 GB), FT Global+Vector+OpenLS, ASN, A2A Cherokee 180. Yesterday I did a flight that took 1.30 minutes and now I had this appcrash 3 minutes after take off. August 31, 201411 yr Wow, 3 minutes. Not very long. I guess I could ask you all the normal questions but I think with your experience that will not be necessary. So, what changed? Apparently it is not obvious. What about airport scenery? Is this a different airport than you had not used before. Bob I am staring at ASN. I never really gained a full trust level with the weather generators. Bob Officially retired
August 31, 201411 yr Nothing changed! I did fly into Spain for the first time so obviously I was flying above some textures I hadn't flown above previously. Well, one thing I did which I didn't do before (not recently anyway) was using ATC for flight following (just for fun). After restarting the PC and posting this topic, I loaded my previous flight (from yesterday: I always start with a flight I save after parking the aircraft), repositioned the plane somewhere where I was when P3D crashed (so in mid air) and proceeded from there on. (It's an easy way to continue a crashed flight!) I even contacted ATC again to see if something would happen. But everything went fine and after 1.15 hour or so I landed safely without any crash... (I did manually save the flight every 10 minutes or so though...) Maybe it simply was a one time thing...? Hope so...! I don't feel like installing FSUIPC just for that autosave feature. The less addons, the better imho. BTW The flight with live ASN weather was absolutely stunning: FTX does a wonderful job in Spain and ASN really makes P3D shine! What a joy to be a P3D simmer! Even on a day that started with an appcrash LOL
August 31, 201411 yr There is so much going on with the FS + the Addon's. Very difficult to pin point. Oh well, all is well in P3D! I am liking it too. Waiting for the Addons to catch up to the 2.3. All my flying is in ORBX land. I am just spoiled. I tried not looking down but I couldn't do it. Bob Officially retired
August 31, 201411 yr Everything is stable right? I've noticed p3d is way more picky about hardware stability than FSX was. I had to bump down to 4ghz kept getting app crashes in p3d | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 31, 201411 yr Generally the crash details contain the name of the offending DLL. If it were an addon then the name of the configured DLL in DLL.XML would be listed there. This looks like a genuine P3D failure; I've had a few of those myself. I'd bet you won't be able to reproduce it again. Edit: out of curiosity I looked a bit into what the 'StackHash' means - it's not a module but a code that windows generates in case it doesn't find a required module / dll to load. Which of course is of no help to you at all!
