La Palma - flashing textures

Recommended Posts

To anybody with the new La Palma scenery - do you see flashing (flickering rapidly) textures just around both ends of the runway?Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

I still cant get La Palma to work. As soon as it starts the plane sinks into the concrete and crashes. Also a top view shows only photographic scenery around the perimeter of the island. The center is a solid blue color.

Aparently the new LaPalma scenery doesn't overide other scenery for this area (even if given a higher priority in the scenery library) and as a result if you have Canary04 by Toni Agramont installed as well, a large high rise built up area from Toni's scenery is still visible. This would not matter except that a lot of it ends up in the sea - see attachment. Unfortunately if you disable Canary04 you loose all the enhancements from that scenery for other islands. Any fixes known?Bruceb

Well I have found my own fix for this problem - delete/rename the files LAPA_01.bgl and LAPA_02.bgl in the Canaries04 scenery folder. I suspect the large high density built up area as displayed in Canaries04 is closer to reality but it just doesn't go with this "photoreal" scenery. However to get back to the main topic of this thread increasing the terrain_max_vertex_level value to 21 hasn't eliminated the airport texture flashes for me.Otherwise an impressive piece of work.Bruceb
