Can you add flightplans to the default traffic bgl?

Featured Replies

Hi; I am running Windows 7 as my o/s and I've done the adm route, compatibilitey route, and got AIFP221,TTools, and have been mucking about trying to get the flightplans I've made with the program to show up at the airport used for the plans which CYUL. I've complied the plans etc and checked the departure time etc and when I use TTB to see if the aircraft are there nothing shows up except the default traffic files aircraft. Is it Windows 7 which is causing the problems. Please give me your views on this darn thing.  Robin

Couple things I can think of. The times for the flight plans are in GMT, not local, so you might have shown up at the airport at the wrong time. The AFCAD for the airport might not have enough gates of the appropriate size or might not have enough gates period. You didn't specify which scenery you were using, so I assumed default.

By convention ai flight plan bgls are placed in FS9/scenery/World/scenery, a folder that is already active. Can you place and see you bgl in there?

I would for Win 7 install aifp in its own folder outside of any Program Files hierarchy. Then in Win 7 create a shortcut to it. Right click on the shortcut, select properties, set run as admin, click advanced, enable run as admin on this second screen as well, OK to return to the first screen, click Apply to save all changes, then OK to close the properties window. Win 7 has two levels of protection and this covers both privileges. DO THIS ONLY FOR APPS YOU TRUST. Setting these privileges allow the app to access any data files residing in the Program Files hierarchy and also to communicate with and execute any apps and processes it needs there. This is a work around for apps that need but do not have privilege elevation built in.

You should set FS to use FS time and not system time. As Kevin suggested be sure you use Universal time so create a flight at a busy universal time at the airport of your choice parked somewhere and save it.

In AIFP be sure no missing aircraft models are noted for your plan. AIFP is a front end for TTools so you should not need to use it directly.

I looked at this reference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montr%C3%A9al%E2%80%93Pierre_Elliott_Trudeau_International_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations

and you have plenty of choices for freeware air packages.

http://www.world-of-ai.com/allpackages.php have complete freeware packages of ai models, flight plans, etc, that can be installed with its auto installer.

WOAI has Westjet, Sunwings, Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz, Air Transat, plus more current and past Canadian airline packages, and many Internationals.

If you wish you can download for manual installation any of these packages, or just install them, and use AIFP to examine the WOA_(airline).bgl to look at its time table for CYUL. Find a busy time and then see if they show up. This makes a good example and test.

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions I'll try them out. Robin
