September 15, 201411 yr I bought a mobo, cpu, ram combo from Newegg yesterday and didn't notice until today that the ram is one 8gb stick. Stuff is already shipped. I know that normally single channel will slow a computer very marginally, but what effect on FSX? My old RAM is 1600 and the new mobo won't take it.

September 17, 201411 yr FSX will give you lower FPS if you run your RAM single channel. Tri or quad channel doesn't really matter, but dual channel does.
September 17, 201411 yr Author Thanks guys. I never knew that all the components in Newegg's combos weren't compatible. that is really stupid. Over the years I've spent 1000's at Newegg but never bought a combo. Got all the parts in today and found out the single stick is of no use whatsoever. According to Intel the CPU won't work with single channel and the mobo manual says the mobo will only run with dual channel. Waiting to hear from Newegg about returning the ram- soon as I get an RMA I'll ship it back unopened and order a pair of 4gb sticks.
