It's not so bad for flight sim.  My single R9 290 4GB card can handle it pretty well in most situations with very high settings in P3D 2.3.  Don't get me wrong, there's no such thing as "too much" performance, so I'll likely be upgrading in the next few months also.  Hoping to see some SLI fixes for P3D before I make my decision though.
