Diamond Visionics - yet another FS engine

Recommended Posts

Saw this on airdaily at first. Looks like it builds its scenery straight from Google Earth. Good looking haze effects, 'beta'-looking clouds, photo scenery all along.. Not a single a/c model shown though (just some AI).. Wondering how this one will turn out? Not sure if this will ever reach our home desktops.. Anyone with some knowledge on the new engine?

Hah! Not a bloody chance. This is a commercial, professional level scenery engine. Here is a quote directly from one of the developers:

We are a visual simulation company. Our visual engine uses native GIS data directly, and 3D models for the obvious.

See: http://fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/paid-for-airport-3d-features.431689/

As for its potential as a "flight simulator platform" note that currently only OpenFlight is supported.

Just as an example of its commercial nature, consider this article:

In short, there's nothing to see here unless you have Very Deep Pockets! :LMAO:
