Exactly what model is this PA46T Malibu JetProp DL?

Featured Replies

I am confused, as usual, about the exact model that Carenado has chosen. When I go to Jetprop.com to snoop around for some answers it looks like very few dots can be connected. Please take a look at my attachment. I have tried to put as much info as I could find, which is not very much, in one box for comparison.

Confusing issue no 1 is JetProp thinks their Maiibu has a Lycoming Engine not a P&W.

Confusing issue no 2 is JetProp doesn't seem to have a PA46 engine but the closest P&W is a -42 with 500 HP which is close to the Carenado 550 HP but it is a Meridian.

Confusing issue no 3 is the JetProp DLX is a 560 HP P&W but is a -35 but the Gross Weight is the same as the Carenado and the HP is real close.

Maybe the Carenado is a DLX and not a Malibu.

The lower right corner of the info is from the aircraft.cfg file The light blue text in the table is from the Carenado docs - PA46T Reference.pdf All the other data is from the JetProp.com website.

Anyone want to tackle this?

Regards,

Ray

Quite some investigative work, Ray. I can't compete with that but just wanted to state that some of us JetProp users indeed asked why they have modelled 'this one' instead of 'that one'. Our thoughts mainly circled around the engine choice and I've posted a very rough edit in that regard some time ago.
