April 23, 200521 yr I have been flying the new PMDG 1900C a lot this last week, and I am spending much more time in it than I had expected. It flys great, has a great VC, looks great, and is easy to get up and flying.Since I have been enjoying it so much, I have been wondering if I should pick up the 1900D as well? I understand there are some improvements in PMDG's 1900C. I understand the guage refresh rate in the 1900D is slower, but if I am thinking about the Reality-XP guages, does it matter?Tony
April 23, 200521 yr Well as far as I remember, the 1900D VC for example is completely different, uses default gauges and the sounds don't sound too original either. I would recommend to stick with the 1900C.
April 23, 200521 yr No, I don't think you do. I got the B1900D first and the B1900C is a big improvement. Not that the B1900D was bad but it relied partly on default guages...still a nice package, but the B1900C is in another league. The smoothness of the guages in the VC is excellent. Sounds are excellent and flight and external model, second to none!
April 23, 200521 yr I have had the D model for a long time, too, and have had the C for a couple of weeks now. The C is a step above, panel-wise. So much so that I have left the stock gauges in, except for the GNS/WX500.As for the D, I heavily modified it right from the beginning, and I will keep it in the fleet. I have the Jet Line 4 and other goodies in the 2D and VC, and it is different enough to keep it in the lineup. If I had the C already, I would probably modify the pax version and leave the others alone, just for variety. They are all good values. If your curiosity gets the best of you, it won't cost much, and you will have something you can use.
April 24, 200521 yr Hmmm, I took the 1900C up yesterday for the first time. Very nice, smooth running airplane. Wish I could get the hang of the autopilot but I s'pect that will come with time and familiarity. :D
April 24, 200521 yr "Wish I could get the hang of the autopilot"LOL!I am going through the same thing. I think I have it all figured out except for presetting altitude. I have a post on the PMDG forum her at Avsim that will hopefully help me out. What part of the autopilot are you having trouble with?Tony
April 24, 200521 yr You can set the altitude with the gauge entitled "Altitude Alerter" on the right side of the panel, above the pitch trim and flap controls. In some planes, it is just that, but here, it lest you set the AP altitude. The AP head is on the throttle quadrant. In the VC, you have to zoom in a little at first, until you know which button is which. Look down by your right elbow, and click on the armrest to move it out of the way.Even though it is a simple and inexpensive plane, the B1900C has its surprises (at least for me, because I am rather simple myself). Figuring out these new panels reminds me of finding the coins and other worlds in Mario Bros.Regards - Steve
April 24, 200521 yr Thanks for reply, Steve. I had seen the altitude alerter and discounted it because, well, it says altitude alerter. Silly me.I don't believe this was mentioned in the manual. If it is not there,it should be. That said, I love the plane and the work that PMDG does.Tony
April 24, 200521 yr After selecting the target altitude, go to the autopilot panel and press ALT SEL (not ALT!), then press the UP button a few times to set the vertical climb speed and lastly, when ready, press the AP engage button.ALT is Altitude Hold on this plane. Bert
April 24, 200521 yr One more thing I did: Since the stock VSI didn't have a control button on it, I replaced it with the Kingair VSI. That makes it easier to control climb rate.Ciao! - Steve
