Sids and Stars

I may be asking a real newbie question here,done some googling but not quite sure?

 

Will Pilot2ATC use sids and stars to control a pilot to an airport.

 

If so where is Pilot2ATC getting this info from,and how are the cycles updated?

Zinny,

Pilot2ATC does not currently use SIDs and STARs directly.  You can set it to allow you to fly SIDs and STARs that you set up in your FMS or fly manually without being pestered about being off course.  You can set your first waypoint of the Flight Plan as the SID Transition Fix or the last waypoint of the FP as the STAR Transition Fix at the Destination airport. 

 

Future versions of Pilot2ATC will use SIDs and STARs more directly.  The newest version of X-Plane has SIDs and STARs as part of the new GNS430 support, so that would become one source of this data.  I am hoping to also support reading updates from one or more of the Nav Data suppliers. 

 

Haven't got to this yet, so details are not available.  For now, you will at least be able to fly them without being called out for being off course.

Dave on the  control panel  you got  sids  and  stars option  trying to work out how  these work  but unable  to find any info in the  manual.   My guess you click on them and it will imput  the first waypoint of  the sid  and with the  star  the first waypoint of  the star.  Than yo8u need to make sure you have these waypoints as you describe in post2 of yours?

It actually inputs the first waypoint after the Departure Airport for the SID and the Last waypoint before the Destination Airport for the STAR.  It is up to the pilot to have these waypoints in the flight plan before pressing the SID or STAR button.

The updated User Guide, available on the Download page of the web site describes these two buttons beginning on page 34.
