Building a PC mostly for P3D but some FSX.....

Little bit of an update on the project here.

The build is 80% complete. I say 80 because I have not purchased the GPU so am using the integrated graphics on the board. The build is as follows:

Case:     Corsair Obsidian 750D

MB:        Asus Maximus VII HERO

CPU:      Intel 4790K currently at 4.4GHz

RAM:     Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR-3 at 2133MHz

Cooling: Corsair H110

PSU:      Corsair HX850

HD:        Samsung 120 SSD and 250 SSD

TBH, I was not expecting much without the GPU and Prepar3d did not disappoint. I was getting better performance on my laptop which, I suspect, is due to the discrete GPU (nVidia K2000M with 2GB of VRAM). I decided to try FSX and I was blown away. I am currently on my first flight (PMDG 777, LatinVFR MKJP, FSDT KFLL, Active Sky Next) and my frames are impressive, for me anyway.

On the ground at night at MKJP, fps in the VC are mid high 20's to low 30's. In the air, VC is low to high 30's and outside views are in the 50's. I'm impressed enough to start fooling around with FSX again, at least until I get a GPU.

I really thought it would run P3D better though. Hopefully the GPU will be a major help with that.

Yeah if you can do without AA and lots of clouds while you test then the IGP is fine.
