That's not true, performance only degrades because of fragmentation.

 

 

 

You see an increase, but significantly ? Meh... and mind you, that's based on a 500MBps read/write SSD in combination with a 4790K CPU.

Sorry but it IS true - fragmentation makes it worse but the head has farther to travel and the performance degrades.

 

Significant is in the eye of the beholder, I grant you BUT if one has a slow HDD and gets an SSD - it WILL be significant. If one has a WD VRaptor HDD, the difference will be negligible.
