FSX Random black screen GTX 980

Featured Replies

Hello Fellas,

So I just built a new X99 gaming rig with Dual EVGA GTX 980's Superclocked, I know FSX only uses one card, that's not an issue. I installed FSX just fine without any addons yet. I noticed that sometimes all of a sudden the screen goes black but I hear the game sound in the background then the screen comes back again. It happens randomly.

I'm not sure if this is a Graphics Card issue or an OS issue. Should I get back to Windows 7? FSX was running perfectly on my old X58 rig with a GTX 580 1.5GB card. I'm confused.

DX10?

Nope DX9...

Possibly driver corruption.  Most likely actually. I run win 8.1.  No issues.

Hmmm not sure why I would have corrupt drivers...it's a fresh install on a brand new rig. It could be something with my graphics card coz I was in BIOS a while ago and the screen turned black all of a sudden and came back again...not sure what's going on here :(

if you are seeing this problem in BIOS then its most likely hardware related and sounds like it could be your card. What is your power source wattage?

Power Supply is a Corsair AX1200...is that what you're asking about?

I think it's a cable problem....gonna try another HDMI cable and will try a DVI cable as well

Yup! That's what I was asking so definitely not a power issue. DId the HDMI cable work for you?
